I purchased a Trace up sensor (a bit like a woo but with gps tracking) in March. Used it about 20 times and now it failed.
I was very happy with it but obviously disappointed that it failed so quickly. I contacted customer support and have not heard back in a month after an initial confirmation of the fault. This seems to be happening quite a bit.
Just something to consider if you are unsure which tracker to purchase.

Unfortunately, salt water makes it really difficult to get anything water resistant for a long time.

My Xensr failed after a similar number of sessions. I'm convinced that my problem was the charging pins corroding and expanding, allowing water to get inside. It failed whilst on holiday where I didn't have the same easy access to fresh water to wash it at the end of each session (I'm talking maybe 3 sessions in 4 days where I didn't get a chance to wash it immediately afterwards).

My personal thing is to look at sensors that have a waterproof case as well - PIQ and WOO at present. Good luck with your replacement. My Xensr failed in February and I'm still waiting for a replacement. Hopefully you should have a smoother service as Trace aren't inbetween models and shouldn't have the same stock problems.

Onto my third woo for leaking and corrosion issues. Always rinsed them off after. The second one did last well over 100 sessions in over a year. But I can say woos customer support is great in my experience. Quick email telling them the issue and two days later I had a form filled out my old woo in the mail sent back to them and a discount code for the online shop to upgrade to the newer version.

Do you have the Woo flight case? I'd have thought that would have sorted any leaking issues? Water resistant device inside a waterproof case.

Nah I don't have the case. I've heard about it but didn't think it was available yet, doesn't show up in the online shop. Got a link to it by any chance?

edit: found the case but not available in the Australia online shop

Yeah I wish trace up had customer service like that. I've sent emails, facebook messages, etc but no response at all. I guess I just have to write it off as a loss and move on. I always rinse off all my gear after use, there is no corrosion on the pins.

Haha will give it a shot!

There was a bloke claiming 28m last year off a choppy gusty lake in 30kn. I don't think I've had a huge misjudged reading from mine. Sometimes it does feel like I've done a new pb and it's been well below what I thought but that's what everyone says.

The balloons work great.
A bit fiddly till you get the technique. I use them on a different brand altimeter.
Zip tie it to any handle if you have a few boards..

18m jumps on glass flats... not even the pros are getting anywhere near that - 13m tops from them.
So woo crap strikes again :)

I have a waterproof garmin 4.5 years later still going fine, saltwater, surfing kiting cycling not a trace of corrosion. Even battery still fine even using it nearly every day. If companies are not fixing warranty issues now, they will not be around in the long run either.

Unfortunately, salt water makes it really difficult to get anything water resistant for a long time.

Same here - Garmin watch gets hammered, no sign of any issues in 4 years.

I think the big issue is the plugs? Garmin has the magnetic back with a couple of contact points - no internal plug with tiny pins
