The Woo seems is marketed for the kitesurfer, where as the trace not so. The trace looks a better product, it seems to do everything the woo does and a lot more?

Anyone out there used or uses both? Opinions, Pro's, Con's?

Never heard of the trace before but it looks cool. Has a distance function too. I'm not sure the woo tells you distance on a jump does it? I'm interested in how far I jump aswell. maybe more so than height.

The Trace is kind of like mixing a WOO with a Rip Curl Search watch. If you look at the FAQ on the Trace page you'll see that it does support kiteboarding and they do plan to go push this product much more into the kiting market. Looks great. Given that the RC watch is $500 the price point is pretty good as well. Also nice that if you're like me and surf and snowboard as well you're not limited to just one sport.

Our dollar is pretty crap against the US dollar but how does it get from the US online retail price of US $199 to the KP online retail price of AU $399 ????

Curent conversion $199 US is $290 AU, if I wanted one I'd go against my buy local motto and buy direct from the US in this case.

That barometer can't be used to measure kitesurfing jumps. Atmospheric pressure differs by 1 hpa for every 30ft so unless you plan on jumping 30ft and higher, it's no use to you. Guess you'll have to stick with the piece of **** with $5 components!!

?t=79 okay heres a better one at 1:19 notice the 0.00 - 0.03 at top right hand side of his kobo (the bluefly has been placed inside the ereader) i would make my own video where mine shows an accurate reading of it being lifted a couple mill but honestly cbfd.

flying is literally decades ahead of recording flight data over a piece of **** woo if you thought about it for half a minute you would understand why.

anyways acceleromoters only work if its a straight line a to b on complete horizontal axis. build a few rockets and it wont take you long to figure out what the deal is and why "the woo" or any other accelerometer for recording kitesurfing jumps is wildly inaccurate.

there is allready more accurate devices and components out there for nearly as cheap im talking sub $50 here per a unit. but your all being suckerd assed into ****ty taiwan crap and china production which is fine. just dont come at me saying **** you have no idea about because it seriously spins me the **** out what someone who is apparently a sailor can know so ****ing little

this is what our ****ty $50 bits and pieces record hahahahaha complete flight replay with full googleearth compatability. and it doesnt cost a cent. i could take this kitesurfing tomorrow and it would show a video with my height and jumps and exact location by the mm for free. it would take me a weekend to get the same software to work for woo's recorded data if it was opensource....why dont they do it? cause they dont give a ****, they allready know there product is broken and why should they improve it if you guppies dont know anybetter.

Mate why dont you make this into a product? People will pay for this stuff. In the Netherlands alot of people are using the woo but im hearing alot of broken woo's. Woo's that dont charge anymore etc. A few weeks ago someone jumped 19 meters in 16-18 knots wind.. Thats complete bull**** ofcourse but the woo measured it so it must be true.

I want a device that will measure your hight at the moment of take off to the moment you land.. If you can make that quite cheap, billionaire man. I know I would pay for a product like that.

Even cooler if you can link it to a actioncamera

it allready IS a product. google bluefly vario its under $100 made in australia all opensource so software sides are free and free to tinker with.
and thats not the only sub $100 gps/vario/accelerometer on market. half the smartphones have all these now the components themselves you can buy off alibaba for next to nothing or if you really want ask a computer company to contact there wholesaler for you and get boxes of them straight from taiwan

i wouldn't be a billionaire id be one in HUNDREDS of people making these. have a look at all the hobby rockets or even remote control plane people. theyve all been useing more accurate cheaper and better stuff for decades then a 6 access accelerometer. i dont know how many times i gotto harp on about this ****.

and for last time "woo" is great for what it is. its a $200 piece of software that sends like 2kb data to a online spreadsheet so you can see how you rank in the big boosting lineup or whatever you guys call mowing the lawn these days

if you want to know how GAME a woo and be top on the scoreboard just google how an accelerometer works personally id just put one inside a tennisball and ****ing hit it straight verticly in the air.

I agree that Woo is highly inaccurate.

Have you looked at Xensar Kozzie? Is it any better? I hear claims that it is.

i did rowdy and it also uses an accelerometer. you just need to understand thats the whole crux of the issue. its a device that measures force in a straight line. you need to be jumping directly vertical | not like / (like everyone does) what they use on the hobby rockets is a mixture of both an accelo and a baro then theres some pretty simple code that gives you a true reading. (and im aware its 6 axis or 9 axis or 28 axis it will still give inaccurate readings)

again you need to realise with ALL technology especially sensors your paying for the software not the hardware (honestly accelos or baros or gps are all like $5 a pop these days thanks to smartphones) and the woo's software fits the bill they have 60 year olds who cant take a photo with a phone posting there data online.

but if you want to know how high you are jumping your going to have to look for a different device then a stand alone accelerometer

It's also blocking my vision. Went today and the barber was shut .

I just use my bicycle Garmin Edge 500 (inside dual zip bags) to record my GPS and jumps and it seems pretty accurate. I have to calibrate the altimeter at the beach every time, but it works great. Woo is crap, from other forums I've read.

Hm, hm, I’ve got Woo. Any pretty happy with it.

If the Woo breaks this is mostly due to the sealing letting the moisture in. The new enclosure to prevent this is provided for free.
If it doesn’t charge might be the USB corroded (salt on contacts?). Splash the Woo device with a bit of tap water and goes a long way…

I do not know about the Trace software but the Woo is pretty ok. Let’s face it, there are cca 100 registered devices in here. And 50 in NZ:
