Have recently torn my pectorial muscles while kiting in the surf . Was wondering if any one has suffered the same injury . Trying to avoid surgery as i am self employed . Would love some feedback if others have rehabilitated there way thru it.

Have patience.

The body heals at it's own pace.

From my understanding mucle tears or muscle to tendon tears are usually not fixed (best) through surgery. See a sports doc but also, perhaps more importantly a physio. I had a major pec tendon tear (off the humerus bone) which was reattached surgically. Still a 6-9 months recovery. Hope you can just take it easy for a while and it will heal by itself.

Dunno about pecs specifically, but I had a torn labrum (where the tendon joins to the bone in the shoulder). With Physio and stretching i have no pain now and the same (or better) strength than I had before. I didn't go the surgery because I wasn't willing to have that much time off kiting for the recovery, and now I'm happy I didn't. Focus on strengthening and support exercises and you can avoid the cost and time of surgery I reckon.
