my prediction is, when I have to work, attend family/freinds events, be with the wife, babysit the groms, do pressing chores, the wind will be on. When I have spare time the wind will be ****e.

Last season it was **e 'cos a large tongue of hot water came down the WA coast from Indo, all the way to Margaet's, with sea surface temps up to 3c above normal up to 5ookms offshore between Dec-March. The seabreezes failed because there wasn't the temperature gradient between the shore and coastal plain. With El Nino conditions crumbling over east I think you'll find BoM saying an "average" season is expected this year. Story about it on p42 of the MOTORING section of saturday's, Sept 3, The Weekend West.

WA will blast early on. 3rd week of sept we will have steady winds with a couple of cold fronts to stuff it up for a few days till November.November till 2nd week of feb then, nothing much....December will be consistent 28+ knots. Yippee.
El Davo is hanging just North of Perth

So that sorta means a 50% chance of El Nino too, if my maths is correct?

there is no such thing as a non windy WA summer

If perth sucks it will be smoking on the south coast or at Margs /Yalls.
Last season was awesome down south - where it gets really windy.

If Perth is windy then the south coast will be wet and not so pleasant

Also -If the Seabreezes arent working in Perth then there will be some nice sessions to be had early morning on the river

The only question is - how far can you travel ? Its all about being flexible in your outlook (and hopefully your schedule too)

I do believe that Perth is getting a heat island / bubble effect as it develops - it is definitely less windy here than it used to be.

Start exmouth way september/october, then gero/jurien/lancelin october/november,then perth/mandurah december/jan then forget bunbury who'd wanna kite there, margs/esperance jan/feb/mar then get out on the easterlies mar/april, then wax ya surfboards for april/may/june, then check all gear for winter jun/jul/aug...then start again...

yeh no wind my flatulance ass, la Nino can go and get farqed.

There wil be windy days in your area when...
- You have to work, attend compulsory family social events, you've sold your old kite and your new one hasn't arrived, or you are injured.
There will be absolutely no wind in your area when ....
- You have a day off, are on a kiting holiday, or have just pumped up your new kite.

From what I here we had some nice 8m day's last week in proper steady seabreezes
but I am back from down south now and it's all easterlies
Edit: water is warm again and the winds are still turning to the north today so same as last year I reckon

Although I wish that was true, it is very unlikely we will have an El Nino based on current/historic forecasts and readings.

We have a 50/50 split of either neutral conditions or further cooling, resulting in another La Nina.

We have afternoon sea breezes in QLD now - lets just hope it stays that way!
