Hilly, there's something wrong with the system if teachers have to spend really long hours preparing and making curriculum relevent.
Eppo, by the sound of it you need a change. Even if only to a different school.
No Amount of kiting I'd worth festering to death for.
Curriculum has not changed much for a long time eg maths is maths. Kids have changed and are less accepting of lectures and need to be engaged. It is about real tasks and we prepare project learning engaging the community especially around STEM. My job is to make this work and support teachers with time and resources and it is very rewarding when it works. We get great integration with ECU and Curtin Uni in particular but it is hard work. With AI coming you do not want to be in a manual job. Yes preparing all this is hard work but no different than working in the "real world".
Hilly! Mate! I didn't understand much of that! And what I did understand I thought was BS. Too fluffy buddy.
1. "maths is maths." Yes, but that's an extreme example. It's almost the only thing that doesn't change.

2. "STEM". Extremely important. Whatever can be done to promote it should be done.
3. "With AI coming you do not want to be in a manual job." Absolutely.
Overall, generally agree and not too fluffy or BS. Technically disagree with the first sentence, I think this...
Instead of teaching students to answer questions, we should teach them to ask them. Instead of preparing them for college, we should prepare them for life....from the summary of this article:
