Sunday arvo, Leighton beach...warm, sunny, about 17/18 knots. Great day on the water...

Had been practising jumps & was walking back up the beach past the dog exercise area. Some silly silly (I'm trying my best to be polite here...) punter on the beach asks me...

"Is that fun??"

not really that silly i dont reckon, walking up the beach sucks a fat one.

or u could have some stupid punter come up to u from behind when tryin to do up ur boardys when slighty overpowered and reefs on one side of ur bar tryin to help as u get launch and tryin to regain control of ur kite hahaha... i told him to .... off after he nearly killed me lol...

or wen ur walkn up the beach and ppl ask...
"do u have to be strong to fly a kite?" then grab onto the bar or one of the lines and pull randomly sending the kite out of control! stupid ****ers!


i just had a classic asked to me 5 minutes ago... " cant u just fly away" i sent them the top hat clip in return to the question

And of coarse the classic, "is it hard?" My response is always, "it depends if your any good at it!"

I always love the ones that come up to you on a 7 knot day when your swearing and walking up the beach cause you can't get going and they say "looks like your having a lot of fun"

"is it like surfing? I can surf, would I be able to pick it up quickly?" my response "have you ever flown a kite?"

Love it also when an old digger (80+) comes up to you while your rigging, and starts re-designing the kite and board, "have you thought of having different shaped fins? I was an architect in the army, and know about dynamics. Are those lines very strong, I would imagine some thicker rope would be stronger! Have you thought of using some tubes instead of inflating it."

A guy comes up to me and says "what’s stopping you just flying a way" I spend a good amount of time showing him how you can control the power. He still doesn’t get it so I tell him "its like a wing" and he says "but wings fly".
