How fast have you been on your kite board?, is a race board faster than a freeride, or foilboard????

only 40kph in chop with a gos. 50-60kph with a car following on a mutant TT.

about 40kph on the longboard skateboard.

65kph on the landboard

71 kph on the buggy.

Out-run a dog the other day, but then the wind died and I couldn't catch the hottie who was joggling in a bikini...

Strong onshore on an 11 edge, had a mate coming back from a run on a quad running along side he phoned to say he tracked me at 75 kph, slow compared to the lluderitz challenge guys who hit well over a hundred on average, on 9 mtr kites in 50knts

Picture below shows the GPS speed graph at impact my speed was 30kmh tacking hard up wind, during the impact you can see the sling shot effect to 118kmh for a brief moment then down to zero, after that the readings are as the rescue boat takes me into Mindari.

Foils are fastest.

Sailrocket 65 knots on foils.

Then a tiny directional kiteboard on very smooth water in very strong wind 56 knots.

So why arnt they anywhere close to the race guys also last time I watched the bridge to bridge Johnny Heineken kicked arse on an edge lei

my highest GPS was on a temavento slalom board with tectonics fins 32/32/30cm doing bit over 40knts.

there is some speed guys that do over 50knts

In 2013 he kicked arse on an Edge LEI too, but on a foil board and smashed his own record on a race board, dropping his time from 14 minutes 14 seconds to 12 minutes flat.

I have to question how reliable GPS are for measuring speed, especially if the speed run is in short bursts. My fitness tracker thingy regularly throws up max speeds of 20-25 km/hr when I'm just out walking. Those that know me know I'm no athlete and I couldn't run that fast even if I tried.

Very much a known science with specific GPS now. With the windsurfers pushing the envelope. Not unusual get some flyers though. GPS can be downloaded and computer analysed. Check this Seabreeze Forum Windsurf Speed section.

I have seen a few fast days at Sandy Point, saw that NZ bloke David Trewerne hit 48kts I think it was.

At Luderitz, the pulling up of the kiteboarders at the end of the strip must be kitemarish.

40 knots with a 14m.

Kender is super fast no doubt. He has got a few new toys including a Vitesse 61 litres board and a KFA Foil.

See what he does once it gets a bit warmer up in Boston.

Completely unscientific, unsubstantiated GPS numbers:
twintip 36 knots (Very smooth flatwater - big front Woodman Point Beach 3)
Foil board - 25 knots (short peak, home made foil)

I chatted to Olaf Marting who used to hold the speed record a few years ago, I remember him saying up to about 39 knots peak is achievable for most people in the right conditions with fairly basic gear - but upwards of that it gets very much harder (also to maintain that over 500m)

Your not plums, I'm only relaying to what I was told, it was a strong onshore I was in butterflat water inside the breakers, he was on his king quad running along side me approx 50 Mtrs away for approx 2 klms , it was typical winter gusts , shouldn't see why it not achievable, the fastest I've rode was at dirk Hartog island at tetra don loop in a screamer cross off ,I felt like I was chattering across the water 'how fast ?

Well that's an insane effort then!

I did 74.1kph today in the kitebuggy. Man this speed thing is addictive.. maybe I need a 7 edge for insane speed.

Over 40 knots on Xelerator board (link below) quite easily, it would go much faster on flat water, tried at Sandy Point/Shallow inlet in VIC, but when get into even very small chop gets quite hard on legs, especially if you chase 500m average speed. Also need motocross or sky goggles for flying sand for offshore winds. :-)

I guess around 30 knots on 9m Cabrinha Crossbow IDS, just few m from beach on offshore from the sandbar; had also Genetrix Hydra 7m, but did not have much luck for stronger winds, I think Genetrix could go much faster.
