Hey Guys, has anyone snow kited in Vernon BC Canada? I'm heading there next week and am trying to work out if it is worth taking a kite. We are staying in the SilverStar Resort area.
Any tips on locations, conditions would be awesome.

The short answer is: forget about it.

You need to be above the tree line to enjoy snow kiting, while still manage to find suitable terrain and wind conditions. Silverstar resort is less than 2000m high so not high enough to be above the tree line, meaning not possible to snow kite in that area.

Lakes would be an option however they won't be frozen at this time of the year, you'd be lucky if they even freeze enough at all during the whole winter in that area.

Enjoy the mountains for skiing/boarding, not worth bringing your kites in that area

I worked at silverstar, def no kiting on mountain and in town can't recall any open areas (though I was pretty baked most days).

Photo is silverstar.
Banf may get more snow in the valleys. The park at silverstar is pretty mellow and if your after a bigger one with bigger rails check out big white which is sister park and may still accept same season pass. Vernon is really rough redneck vibe so I wouldn't bother with the party scene there and would stick to the mountain (not a big party scene there also unfortunately). Sweet mountain with that's not too crowded compared to wistler etc.

Did a working holiday to Canada, stayed at Silverstar for 6 months of it, love the place. Awesome snow, massive dumps all season
We bought a car for $500 and did the surrounding mountains as well, just buy some winter rubber and chains, we did the season on summer rubbers , the local tow/recovery bloke made a killing off us and think we put his kids through college. " Damn stupid Aussies" lol.
Too many trees for the kite in this part of BC. Enjoy.
