Hey

Upon replacing my naish smartloop line (about 2 years old) for preventative failure ... after taking off the red cage - I noticed the bottom small allen head bolt was broken & the head was stuck in the hole which when visually checked looked ok. I then went to undo the top bolt and the head just fell off

The day before - I was havin fun jumping

Easily replaced & flyin again - a reminder to All smartloop or anyloop owners to actually check them once in a while that they can undo without sheering the heads etc then locktite back up again

Cheers Clay

Can i take a guess that it was an '08 smartloop? (aside from the ~2 years old comment)
I've had to replace the bolts and nuts on both of the '08s i own. Showing it to my bolt guy he reckons they've scrimped and not used the proper grade marine stainless. For all the $1.10 they saved i hope their happy.

No sign of deterioration on my '09... yet.

Same thing happened to my mates 08 cult . After replacing the smartloop line for the third time on my 08 helix that bolt snapped as well . The bolt that holds the chicken loop on also snapped first time it was undone, replaced both . Clay, im amazed that you got 2yrs out of your trim line

Yeah my bar (kite & bar 2nd hand) was one of the first released in Hawaii as a school kite but was cheap $400 for both...

The rest of the bolt had jammed slightly downwards & the only thing holding the chickenloop intact.

The rope lasted because I actually shortened the depower end (and leader lines)about 8 inches - so my non 'Go Gadget' arms could reach the bar when let out !!

still love the simplicity of it though
