I'm looking at purchasing a Octane 9m but the only photos I can find show a grey/grey or grey/green kite. Can someone enlighten me as to what colours are available? Pictures would be great.

The dark grey is actually a dark khaki.. looks pretty cool.. but i like my red one too..I am pretty sure you will be happy with whatever you get

slingshot always have a good colour range. they always have so many different colour combinations. get into your local shop to see what colours they have. there will be about 40-50 different combinations at least i think. every year they have done this.

Looks Great - Send me a 20 Knt breeze and I'll let you know what I think of it.

The new 2010 Bar looks like an improvement on the 2009 version.

But will it fly proper out of the bag or will it want to fall out of the sky and feel way underpowered and have you removing pigtails and trying to shorten the back lines any way you can?

Let us know cause the jury is out on the Octane and is prompting many Rev owners to consider switching from SS.

Hey Goofy Foot i have had some of the problems you mentioned and want to know if there is anything that can improve mainly the falling out of the sky that you know of. Its awsome in 20 to 25 knots but seems to happen around the 15 range

Maybe you guys should learn how to fly kites first, maybe start with single string (see below) and work your way onto four.

I love my Octane . Mine has fallen out of the sky but thats just because I'm a kook and have only just got up on a board.

what is the wind range on that baz and does it come in any other colours

Goofy I have tried flying my 11m octane on all the settings with and without the pigtails and have found that it flys best on the settings with the pigtails in. When I removed the pigtails the kite had more grunt but was less stable and fell out of the sky when oversheeted. With the Pigtails in I was unable to oversheet it and the kite doesn't fall out of the sky. It takes a bit getting used to it but I recomend leaving the pigtails in and learning to fly the kite as it was designed to fly as an apparent wind kite not a grunty kite. when starting off dive the kite realy agressive through the window and keep diving it with sharp and short agressive movements until you get up to the speed you want. Once up to speed park the kite or move it with less agressive movements and it will maintain that speed. The kite can realy generate a lot of power by moving it fast. Takes a bit to get used to but I believe you will love it once you get used to it. Much more enjoyable then getting draged around by a grunty kite. Let me know what settings others have found works

I fully agree here. If you fly the Octane like it should, it is a great performer. But if you have your kite directly above you like a noob with it depowered, it can shoot forward and fall.

Learn to sheet the bar in to stop the kite surging forward or keep the kite at 45 degrees instead of 12 o'clock.

The kite comes in a colour combo only limited by your imagination. As always this new kite is faster turning, better handling with greater depower than anything else on the market. Its innovative and ground breaking design has created the first true one kite quiver with the 3.141592653589m2 size covering a range from 4 thru 44 knots. Team riders are openly bragging about breaking the 100kmh barrier. So in short buy one because its really f__kin good.
