Im looking for a new build.
Thought this might fit. Im thinking to narrow it a bit. 5"10 x 19 deep single concave and fairly flat rocker. stringerless eps epoxy.
Im 6.1 and 86kg dry.
I like the pulled in tail on this.

Looks good, it won't need to come in too much tho, maybe 1/2 Max.

Yes looks sick!!!! I like the nice meeting point between the vanguard and a traditional surf shape. Go for it and then let us know how she goes !!

Have been riding a Tomo Evo 5'7 and love it, especially on lighter days.
If I had been able to demo one I would have bought smaller, maybe 5'3. ( 84kgs and 5'10 )
Have been told they are releasing a Kite version Evo later this year too
LFT is standard surfboard build I believe, same as current Evo's

fingers crossed they ( firewire) do the 'sci phi's a kite or fst construction so it can be used for kiting- the board looks insane!! same board stu kennedy rode at snapper!

^Board looks amazing, so quick! I know you like those wide tails Ry, but for me on a kite they are over-kill, I'm usually trying to loose speed rather than get more haha. Would love to surf it though.

Couldnt agree more. I don't get why these wide tails are popular. Great when its a bit light, but when you are trying to shake speed through a bottom turn, id think you want less in the tail.

The skinnier the tail the less the surface area the worse the board goes upwind all other aspects being equal.

If your tail is too small you will grovel upwind or need to fly a bigger kite to compensate for the reduced tail efficiency.

So what is the worse of the 2 evils? needing to use a bigger kite or having a wider tail that you may have trouble shedding speed in your bottom turn on a monster big fast wave?

The obvious answer is N+1

N = The number of boards you have now + 1.

Get more than one board to match the conditions you ride.

In a perfect world Id have one board and one kite.

It'd kite like a 6 in high wind and kite like a 14 in light wind. (see the current review of this kite in Gear section)

Look how parallel the rails are then the flyer just in font of the fins steps the tail width in. Board is suppose to turn on a dime and I think with the parallel rails would truck upwind! Yet to try it but just by looking at it I think it will be perfect! The whole thing around the modern planing hull ( tomo shapes) is about speed and controlling it! I can't wait to get my paddle version- and if it works kiting hopefully the do a version kite friendly!

Definitely don't get any LFT boards for kiting. You'll break it for sure.

I'm going to tell FW we need a Sci Phi kite - you do the same! That board looks insane!

hahaha, already said to them a few times mate- Felix is onto it too! they have sooo many orders on them after snapper comp for surfboards it may be awhile before they have time to look at it as these boards are going nuts and sold out for months if you want the lft for surfing! will be a great kite board i reckon if they do in fst!!!!!

I'd go down in length to 5-4, 5-6. Put a winger on the tail and take another 2" off the length.. Also think about the fin placement, it's critical.
I'm 5-8 x80kg and comfortable on 4-8 and 4-10 compact design I built inspired by the Evo.
I'm not riding real waves tho, just wind waves up to 5 ft. Total crappy waves.

yeah mate- got one a few weeks ago in the first shipment. they were all pressed so i couldn't get one small enough to kite on. have the 6'0 which for me is good size to paddle but a tad too much board for everyday kiting at 34Ltr. they aren't as flat of a rocker as i thought they'd be and are quite a high performance board- definitely not a board for grovelling in, needs a semi decent wave to excel in.
