These are pics of my North 2017 click bar lines.
As you can see, there are some threads coming out right from the attachment knot point of 2 lines.
I was wondering if I should be concerned and replace it?

It will be fine....re splice it if ur worried....

yes mate. Replace, replace, replace!
But you need to find out why and get to the source of the problem. I've heard Click bars are renowned for this, for some (t)reason.

Steering lines or main power lines.

Best way to test it is to go out and loop your kite, if it doesn't snap then it should be ok.

Looks like the tail of a splice. The photo of the line (on back of your well seasoned hand) appears to be sewn to the left side of the image. If thats the case its fine its just the the end of the line that is spliced inside was a bit long and its creeped out of the weave - nothing to worry about.

... duuuuude,,,,,absolutely replace them! Don't muck around, don't risk it.

Mine snapped in exactly the same place and they looked very much like yours ,,,,, if in doubt, it means there is no doubt, its' time to replace'em!

As they say, "a stitch in time saves.... nine".

If you need to ask the question...

As above cut them down and re-splice if you want to save a bit of money - a loss of 30cm isn't going to be noticeable - just change the pigtails on the end to account for the difference. For a 2017 bar I'm guessing its had a fair few sessions on the lines so you are delaying things but if the rest of the lines are fine then you can probably get by a bit longer safely on that set*

(* I'm assuming that you aren't being daft and going out in 50 knots trying to emulate Len10 as he is only going to be taking out kites and lines with a few hours use on them)

Second photo looks like threads from the tail of the splice is poking out, but the top photo looks a worse, like the tail of the bury has been square cut and is starting to destroy the line.

I'd replace them if my life depended on them, but I wouldn't if I was just cruising around...

I'd take it too the local kite repair shop and get a professional to confirm. Most likely do it for free and you have real peace of mind. Saves cutting unnecessarily or doing a procedure you may have never done before.

I can't pretend to know about lines, but I can tell you mine were about the same age when the front line snapped which made the self rescue time consuming and a little difficult

I've had a couple of lines snap while kiting. It's no big deal, just an inconvience of having to self-rescue.

Snapping while standing on the beach could be dangerous I guess...

Mostly they snap as you're loading it up and the whole kite and bar get ripped out of my hands ... but one of the last ones was right at the peak of a jump and cost me a broken board

I have a couple of bars. One with old worn lines for light wind close to shore stuff. The other a good condition storm kiting line set.
I would relegate these lines to the old worn line bar for not critical stuff.

I suppose you need to weigh up the cost of new lines vs your desire to have trust in your equipment.

I personally am not a massive fan of having something that bothers me about the durability of my equipment, because when things go wrong, it's often at the worst time

I snapped a frayed centre line right next to the splice during the westerly winds in Sydney this week. The lines were in good condition apart from the one frayed section (80% intact) so i rolled the dice... I was out all day with no issues having an epic time until i got slammed by a large gust causing the frayed line to snap. Once it snapped the kite started looping out of control untill i hit the quick release. Luckily my tether line was still in tact and i didn't loose my kite to the bay. As i was close enough to the beach there was not to much of an inconvenience sorting my **** out. For only ~$250 you can get a new set of lines and i would highly recommend it as the cost of potentially loosing a board / kite or putting someone else out to drag your wet kit in is not worth it.

I had that line snap. Single front line safety, I've never been a fan. Tempted to put an O-S handle on the other front line...
