Anyone have any recommendations for a secure strap for an Apple Watch? I've got the Apple velcro sport strap, but it comes undone in hard crashes and the attachment points to the watch looks vulnerable too if they catch on something. Currently using a neoprene sleeve over the watch as I haven't been able to find anything better.

I used the velcro strap to start with. It stayed wet and got stained and the end stuck on my wetsuit sleeve and it opened up. It didn't fall off but it wasn't good.

I bought a cheap silicone version of the standard Apple band. That worked fine but it was easy to open and eventually tore.

I tried an armoured waterproof case for the watch. That was crap. It was strong enough but moisture would be trapped inside the case. The manufacturer sent a couple of cases and eventually gave me a refund.

I ended up with the standard Apple sports band. The plastic is quite hard and it closes around the pin with a bit of a snap. That one never let go. You can get after market bands with two pins. Avoid silicone because it is soft and doesn't grip the pins securely.

I always wear my watch under the wetsuit sleeve.

As I've said in other threads, 3 Apple watches died in 18 months. One replaced under warranty and another replaced at a discount. I assume the sapphire glass and stainless steel watches would be more robust. I'll consider one of those when they deal with the short battery life issue.

In the meantime my Garmin Fenix 3 just soldiers on after 6 years use. The band broke recently and I sewed up a new one out of webbing and strong velcro. The watch will break before that band fails.

Did the exact same. Lost my series 7 in a crash - got a similar band from Amazon with the expensive replacement.
