this may be an ignorant question but is the new fastrack system much of an advantage to water bourne boards? i can clearly see how it is for snowboards as powder riding is such a different story to groomers. but water is water isn't it? i'm not much of a surfer persay i roll TT's, an i can safely say whether its boots or straps one stance is it......??

I would argue that, the back strap should always be over the fin box, whilst having some options to move the front foot is important I don't really see the advantage over multiple inserts not to mention it seems like the type of thing which adds weight and is just another thing to break. Really once you know where you want the placement it is not like you ever change it.

Gimmick in my book (TT and Surf)

Nothing new about adjustable fin tracks, mast tracks
Just more bits to come loose, wear out, seize & fail
For the small benefit cant see the need besides something different
for the sake of it!!

for the surfer who wants to use the board unstrapped and wax under the front foot - its a a disadvantage - because you have this grove under your foot which doesnt feel good

If you do use straps then once its on you dont need to adjust -

I also think it will affect the flex of the board as it is a long solid strut that wont allow the board to flex in that area

the track DOES flex with the board and it is actually better than having a solid block of inserts in the board which stop the flex. or the other way you can allow the board to flex is by putting in single inserts and then they are forever pulling out.

are you ****ing serious?!

As a board builder i can say (with nothing against SS) this it a total gimmick, i would never waist time building boards with this kind of setup, although it would probably be faster in production speed therefore cheaper. As for flex it would make zero difference either way.

It actually depends what the track is made from If you asume its made out of a plastic with no flex then it probably wont flex much haha.
I can tell you that this setup allows for a lot more flex than with a regular pack of inserts in which flex is non-existent. The only way you can get flex with regular inserts is to have them separate, in which case they will pull out easily.
I think this idea is good for wakeboard/ twintips, it saves weight, adds easily changeable stance between many different boots and baseplates and allows for flex directly outside of where your binding ends.
The only idea I don't like is the stance possibly slipping and changing (however I haven't tried it yet so I don't know about that).

i tried to get them to move around today when i was using the fasttrack. i thought that i probably would be able to get it to move around after a few people had problems with the burton snowboards having the same problem. i tried for a fair while to get them to move and they didnt.

Does anyone know if the track is available to buy as a separate unit in Oz yet? For example to install in any surfboard..
