Hey Guys,

I am look at possibly getting a replacement for my 9m Delta shaped kite, prefereably one that is faster turning and quicker through the window with medium to light bar pressure. Primarily used with a surfboard.

I don't want to remorgage the house either. I have a 7m kite that I really enjoy and want to replace the 9m with something that would compliment it, say something like a 10m or a really fast 11m. I get going nicely in the 7m around 20knots on a surfboard, so ideally a kite for say 12 to 20knots.

The Noise looks like an option, number one it designed for the surf, 2 its priced right and 3 as far as I understand it unhooks nicely which is what I want to get into. The other option is the same make as my NEW 7m.

Any other recommendations?

if you're not wanting to break the bank, why not get a used Vapor or two ??
picked one up for $400 recently, hardly used !!

Sounds like the 9.5 Best Kahoona very much fits your criteria.

For unhooking on waves the 8m noise
they are sized down so the 8 feels like a 10

look this is a blatant pimp but this puppy gives max thrust and boost (A bit bigger than a 9 tho)not sure about in the waves tho ,perhaps a bit slow in the turns

I'm pretty sure this baby comes without the troublesome trent 900

BTW I would consider the less expensive Best Kahoona or Griffin Argo both second gen and proven unlike the trent 900 and either unlikely to disappoint

sorry dude but not a "delta" ( a good kite nevertheless).Oh original poster, make sure you do a google search on reviews for delta kites .Hopefully something will strike a chord there.

The 8m bws definitely has the power of your average 10m so for those considering the option go size down. I sure wish I did!

don't know how you would go kiting it, pretty near impossible to get a cross off with the cliffs and i certainly wouldn't want a kite dragging me across the end section with a cross on making the sections shut down Has anyone kited at ULu's? Maybe outside corner on a dead low /macking swell /strong south southwest and gonads the size of Lairds!

Everything New is new, but I think you knew that I knew about the new NEW too didn't you too. Phew!

What is your opinion on this?
Unless I have a thick bank account my next kite to a 7 should be a 10 minimum, or probably 11. Otherwise there is too much overlap (between a 7 and a 9). My rule of size quiver: ((little baby)+50%)+50%). Translate it to something reasonable: my present quiver is 6-9-13. The 13 is far too big (for me) for waves. So if budget matters my 2 kite quiver would be 6-10 or 7-11. They may not need to be the same style: I like a tame 6, but a wild 11. And I would have 2 boards: one for more power and one that needs less (larger-more volume; and smaller-less volume). What do you think?

Getfunky you knew me to well (is that right??), the Alibi 9.5 is an option but where can we demo them?? (Nate come to the party). I would prefer a 3 strut kite to keep the weight down.

I love my 7m but I have noticed the guys riding the NEW kites are either pulling too much backline and pinching the wingtips or maybe it is how the larger sizes look or maybe they fly forward enough so stalling the kite creates more lift, I don't know.

I have not tried many smaller kites out but I reckon I could get going on my 7m alot earlier than 20 knots because you can work it so fast, once the you board speed is up it motors along.

Like Andrash pointed out , I have not demoed any kites since 2009 Kitestock and then I only tried one because I did the mammoth downwinder that wiped me out. This year I am there .

I have tried to tell my wife that my old 9m kite is bad for my health because the last time I used it I pulled something in my should that felt like a bunch of springs going off and now I have this tingling and numb sensation in my left hand palm and fingers. That was a week ago but saying that I generally have a bit of discomfort in the left arm every time I use a kite with heavyish bar pressure.

I agree with the overlap issue Andrash but my only concern is loosing responsiveness in the kite, I think the magical number for any kite is below 12m, any bigger and it is tooo slow for surfing.

Ideally I would like a kite light enough and responsive enough to work from 12knots to 20knots and I really think the less struts the better to keep the weight down.

Definitely want ot star unhooking, being natural it would really open up my moves.

Oh yea, NEW is having a sale on, two kites for the price of one, does anybody want to go halvies ???

Woops I havent been looking here the last little bit.
Yes the kites were on special last week. 2 4 1.

The closest kite to the 7m OS is the 9m OS. Lemon and lime colours in stock.

The 9.5 ALIBI looks like an OS but it tuned differently. Its more of a freestyle kite.
But after saying that I often use the 9.5 in the waves on a wave TT in 18.6 knots (light wind). Its good cause depowered it travels around the wind window like the OS and allows you to crack the white water on reeling point style breaks. (It doesnt just fall out of the sky depowered like some other rags do)
Using the 9.5mALIBI a couple weeks ago, I learnt 3 new stella tricks in the waves. Sweet ones too, Troppo recons one is a taka and the others ??
