No winds round dem parts. You might jus hav to stay at gilligans backpackers an get happy to serve you some booze. p.s. day got everyting in dere, you can even ride a bull or bungee jump inside if you want, i did that once, won myself a kite lesson. hahaha (that wasn't actually a joke, and it was the year i won the kitecomp to hahaha)
Cairns is usually sh1t. Port Douglas gets wind but I don't know if you would call it consistent.
Green Isalnd is probably the most consistent wind and it will cost you about $50 to get out there and back. take your own food cause it is a bit pricey on the island. Try and get it on a medium tide cause it is pretty shallow at low tide.
isnt there trade winds or something now? if cains is **** where can u go in AUstralia or anywhere close to australia between June and July for sunshine and strong consistent winds? got uni break and was thinking of going to cains for some wind..but guess i might change my plans now
If it is consistency that you are craving make the effort and drive another 3 and half hours up to Cooktown. Kite at a spot called Walker bay just near the golf course. It is magic big falt water area just at the river mouth. There are a few local kiters up there.
Cooktown is windy as sh1t. Been there before and the place got blown off the map. You dead set couldn't see the place on any map for a couple of years but it is back now so you should be alright.
I'll be up that way from most of july and August, i'll definitely do a couple of trips up to Walker bay and Cape Flattery i'll have my 4WD Camper with me so can access these spots no worries, if you need a lift up there, just let me no. I'll be based in Port Douglas but when the wind is **** i'll be up there for sure.
you should check out this link. iv'e done this trip be for its f***ing brilliant best experncs and kiting ever.
