to learn to kite use a kite board, its more beginer friendly
with a wakeboard....
- its more difficult to starts, you have to put your foot in the binding while keeping the kite flying at the same time
- crashes are way more painfull with bindings than with straps
- kiting is more tiring, cause you have less freedom of movement.
- the board is heavier, so more difficult to move around
I prefer going at a cable ski park with my kiteboard
You do raise some valid points, like slightly more difficult to get your feet in.
However, I really don't get the crashes are more painful, you will do more injuries etc. argument.
When I have a nice positive connection to my board it stays where I want it.
I still believe there is nothing worse for your knees than a 'one foot in straps, one foot out of straps' scenario!!!

Also I don't really understand the more tiring argument?
I find that it is much less tiring than straps, you really don't want freedom of movement in that area!
The freedom of movement comes from your hips.
The only time you may want movement there is with a wide board (surf board, skim board) so that you can vary the weight distribution.
oh and I can't stand my kite board at cable! Just needs that little bit more rocker
