Bit of an over the top sensational headline.

If Pinaroo Point is a designated kitesurf area maybe they can ban the fishermen who insist on casting out exactly where all the kitesurfers launch from.

Whatever hapened to sharing and commonsense.

I hate dog beaches because they stink with an unhealthy concentration of dogs and excrements.

If only the dogs were allowed on every beaches and their master responssible enough to pick up after their dogs, it would not be a problem.

Kiting, windsurfing or any other water activities should not be outlawed to some restricted areas.

It is sad that a few loose nuts can void our freedom to share the ocean

I respect the decision and will abide by the new rules but can't foresee a bright future with an obvious erosion of our freedom that is sure to be implemented on many more beaches.

I hope my kids get to kite my spots some days

Take Note Scarborough Users and give the 100m stretch where Dog owners concentrate (between Floreat and Scarbs) a BIG detour for the near future. Lets self regulate and just stay +50m from shore for a start and stay out of the sets for that 100m or so.

No doubt owners/punters there have been concerned about the massive numbers of kiters intruding/encroaching on them in this small area and they will certainly be very interested in the Mullaz developments.

Kitestock timing couldn't be better, less traffic this week is good to keep the peace in the dawggy area.

Show courtesy and we (hopefully) won't be lookin at a ban also.

Gratuitous bumpity in case the mob that do the downwinder runs were at Kitestock and missed this development:

Feeling a little let down about the impending zones, infact i'm suprised at the lack of concern about it, sorry funky but rob gannon (at least 6 years) and several others in more recent years have been self policing and much more at mulluz, to no aveil it seems. Just wondering if any kiteboarding representitives were at the council meeting when this motion was put through or were we all too busy

Be very carefull guys & gals, i fear this won't be the last !!!!!!!!!
On a brighter note,
Great event in dongara, very well organised, everyone involved should be congratulated for their hard work, long may it continue.

The Scarborough Dog Beach

If dog beaches were judged on usable area alone then the vast expanses of Scarborough would make this utility peerless. The beach begins 200 meters to the North of Peasholm Street (or some 1.2 kilometres south of Observation City) and extends for 1.5 Ks, southwards, with its vast majority being located in the Town of Cambridge. The southernmost boundary is marked by a waste disposal pipe. (A feature echoed at South City Dog Beach. What is it that prompts local councils to associate dogs with effluent?) But the straight line walk along the waterfront is not the only indicator of Scarborough’s size, the beach has depth as well as breadth, with the distance between waterfront and dune system contributing to the overall spaciousness of the environment.

Be realistic Funkster. Your suggestion would i guess lock out 1.5kms of the best downwinder in Perth.
Might be better to just keep a closer eye out on the beach for people with dogs.

Er.. no Relli - got the wrong end of the stick there.

I know there is 1.5km of dog area but I was talking about the 100m or so where the track from the dog beach car park hits the beach. 90% of dawg folks are concentrated in that 100m and we would be wise not to buzz thru right in the shorey with kites low over the folk's heads (as I have seen others doing again and again this season - hell St. Funky has been guilty too!) so as not to wave a red rag in the dawgy punter's faces.

No doubt those folks will have taken notice of the Mullaz development. Make the choice as to whether you want to put the odds/dawgy folks for you or against you?

BTW - the Flozzer downwinder is totally overated and i don't know why anyone bothers with it.

It seems inevitable that Kiting will become more and more restricted unless you Kiters do something about it. You need to be more pro-active and aggressive with your self-policing.

Zed, thanks for the advice and concern - you're right. Search 'ScarbKiters' and 'Leighton Kiters' to come up with the latest beach user groups forming. Feel free to PM us if you are in the Scarboro area too - we've already made a new windsurf buddy in Leech!

When you look from mullaloo along the coast to Swanbourne on any given day at any given time you will see about 500 kitie sails. This is why beachgoers want you banned from their beach.

You have already got heaps so I think the City of Joondalup will confine you to either certain times of the day say 12-2pm or minimise your access to allow us people to walk out dogs in peace.

1."500 kitie sails" On the busiest days i have only counted 20-30.
2.Most people are at work 12-2pm.
3.If we "already have heaps" why would you post this reply since it is a load of crap.
4.Waksa has already addressed the city of joondalup about this matter countless times.
5.GTFO the Kitesurfing forum, last time i checked your profile is clearly states your a poledancer.
