Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice on my next kite as I only own a 17 Zephyr 2015 (where I kite wind is usually light, I rent when travelling to windier places).
I weight 95kg and ride a 144cm Cabrinha Spectrum and thinking of adding a Liquidforce Happy Foil set for light wind.
I only have the 55cm 27m lines Zephyr bar and would like to keep it at 1 bar if possible.

Thought of taking a 13 Edge first but since the Zephyr could cover its range would you recommend taking a smaller kite ?
11 or 10 Edge v9, 12 or 10 Enduro v2?

Would appreciate any advice.

froom a TT perspective and at your weight I'd say the 11M edge would be great
Though I feel a foiler should chime in here seeing as you will be foiling with the kite. either way your bar set up will be ace for both kites.

I can't imagine foiling on a zephyr - you'll be overpowered once up on the foil in any wind strong enough to keep the kite in the air.

12m REO would be the best light wind foiling LEI from Ozone - will relaunch in much lighter wind than an Edge, and light wind relaunch will be the limiting factor for low-end on a foil.

Hmm. For TT I would say look at 11 edge to sit under zeph. An awesome kite for old school boostage.

But. Edges and zep for that matter are almost useless for a foil. They are too damn heavy and fall out of the sky in sub 10 knots and don't relaunch. I have 13 and 10 edge and both of them are gathering dust as far as the foil is concerned.

Chrono is far better for foiling because it hangs in the air and does not start falling out if the shower sky until 6 knots.

Enduro is a better foiling kite. I've grown the 8m and it is nice. It's. No edge as far as boosting is concerned. But it will be the better choice for s dual purpose kite

I foil on a 9m Edge and just bought the 11m Edge v9, only been out on It a couple of times but it is proving to be quite good in 10-15 knots (maybe the new lighter lines help a bit). I find the Edges really good for foiling but do get issues relaunching if it is < 12 knots. I weigh 95kg as well and am finding that I am more interested in foiling now unless it is 20 knots + and I am out on the TT having fun.

Thanks for your replies. Much appreciated.
I can't see myself adding a Chrono so soon (cost). I'm thinking of buying the foil as I can get a good price on it but I might not directly commit heavily to foiling.
Ideally I'd like to get a kite that's more fun to ride than the Zephyr, can cover the higher knots wind range and could be used to learn foiling.
I know it won't be perfect in all areas but could an enduro v2 11 or 12 be the solution ?

It's a hard one because lightish wind foiling and tt to riding require 2 different kites. I haven't flown the Enduro in 12m size. It might be ok. The old catalysts where pretty boring in that size for the riding.

Once you get into foiling though. Light winds tt seems pretty pointless because the upwind is terrible, plus you aren't jumping anything decent. Foil on the other hand is ripping in 10 knots.

What is your location like? That would determine what track you go down. Is there an awesome shallow flat water spot for epic TT riding? Or is it just deep with cruddy chop?

If the latter then foil and Enduro up. If you have some epic TT location. Then get the edge and boost to the moon when it's windy!
The edge us truelly awesome for monster boosting!.

Or if cash isn't an issue have a decadent multi kite quiver.

Another thought would be 11 edge. Then 9m Enduro. That will get you boosting tt on to 30 knots maybe more and 9m Enduro would work well on the foil down close to 10 knots.

My quiver is

13 edge. Never used since foiling, need to sell.
12 Chrono. Light wind foiling machine 6-15 knots.
10 edge, TT boosting 18-25knots. Sometimes foiling 10-16 knots.
8m catalyst 2012. Foiling 10-20knots, waves and boosting 25-35.
6m reo foil18-25, waves and storm riding 30-45.
4m uno. Foil 25-40 knots. TT storm riding 40+

My post used kite is the 8m catalyst. Between foil, wave and boosting I can use it 10-35 knots.

At your weight I'd say the 12m V2 would be perfect then.
