I just had my first go on my new 5m Boost 2 on Sunday. Wasn't that windy - above 20knots and it's been 8 weeks since I last got out but man I love small kites. I had the cloud 3.5 and 5.5 and have sold them both recently via the buy sell section. Great kites but just didn't suit me at the end of the day. The sheeting on the bar was way to finicky - I found I was constantly oversheeting the 3.5 or getting dropped on my ass last few sessions - just an inch or so of sweet spot, which my ham fisted skills were too clumsy to work with. Mind you, I was also riding the Zeeko spitfire for the first time and that was overcomplicating things as I didn't have a clue about the setup and was crashing loads anyways.
I've been riding christians Ikon 5m single strut in summer and loved it - especially with 35m lines in lighter wind. Give looong lines a go with the Uno if you can - you'll be amazed at how small a kite you can get away with. I'd love to try the Uno in the right wind too. Just amazing how well they work with the foil......
I love to fly small kites too..... its pretty cool looping the **** out of them anywhere in the window. Its also cool to be doing a bit of stunt style flying while your riding a foil at the same time..... I recon 15 knot low end is low enough for the 4m! Its madness. But 25 + will be where it shines.
On a side note. I also like to jump and running underpowered on a 4 or even full powered on a 4m wont equal boosting!... ... .. . . .
So my high wind sessions will be decided by the boostability of the water conditions! Good for boosting? flag the foil, mutant up and boooost. If ****ty for boostage. Get out the teny tiny kites and loop like crazy.
