Bring on the usual flaming from those who think that unhooked epilectic fits are the only way to enjoy yourself with a kite

No doubt he does it his way. If I am not mistaken though you are the one that is baiting to kick start the flaming right? Hence why you are inviting the negativity already?

This is how kiting was before we attempted to emulate wake boarding.

Each has its merits and I really have respect for all styles because THAT is what makes riding with a kite so interesting and unique.

So, you don't like unhooked epilepsy (neither do I, bit there's a lot more to unhooked riding than Kevin Langaree's antics, and no offense to those with real epilepsy), then you post a board-off-epileptic one-trick pony.

There's more to old school than dangle board-offs:

No Kite Pants all the rage circa 2001
Also known as euro pants.
Lou Wainman is a Gifted rider who managed to mate wake style riding and kite control.
I think competitive kite boarding pays multiple spins over style and control.
Who cares as long as you enjoy yourself on the water

Kite pants - and they're very different from track pants, in secret ways - are really what separates the men from the boys. Just as few mortals other than Jim Morrison will ever get away with leather pants, few kiters can really pull off the kitepant schtick. Lou was one of them back in the day. Whether he still could is another question.

You'll note that top contemporary riders such as Dre, Hadlow, Zoon and others have such respect for the kitepant that they refrain from wearing them, recognising - to their credit - that they are perhaps not yet worthy.

Kite pants are like the heights of tantric achievement - you might think it's just shagging (and you might think they're just track pants) - but there's a world of difference, and those who can't tell this difference have yet to set foot on the path, let alone take their first steps towards enlightenment.
