Pulleys seem to have always just been a easy way to smudge the design characteristics of a kite to help with scaleing the sizes without individually designing them etc saying you like it being doughy and loose and soft just sounds like ineficient design and performace to me.
Can easily fix this crap by making it loaded 5th line no pulleys. forget about opening up your sloppy kites tighten them up and make it a pure C add someone with some actual skill and maybe kiteing will be actually good and technical and require skill athletiscism like it did 10 years ago

I see nothing progressive about this kites fabric or design. Id prefer to use one of theyre 10 year old razors over this twaddle

And trust me they get bigger and lighter then that
Instead of hike and fly wings we call them climb and fly. Theyre so light we rock climb with them then use them as a descent tool. Or your week long vol bivuoc trips etc

What im saying is its really not that light when compared to over canopys and to be honest my stupidly light wing is a pain in the ass it is so light you have to peg it to the snow with golf tees to not just stop it from slideing but because evem a stoat fart will make it want to lift off and fly.

I kite in 15 to 25 knots.

This "apparent" push for lighter materials is kinda pointless in the 15 to 25 knot wind range.

So if your looking for gear for the sub 5 knot wind range sure have fun faffing about left and right on a lake or whatever but my god is what the majority of kiters do on the water boreing. And nothing looks more boreing then just mowing the lawn.

I dont know why people dont just accept that there is more to adventure sports then just one sport.

If theres swell go surf
If theres winds go kite
If theres light winds go fly
If its raining go rafting or indoor climbing
If theres water vis go dive or spear
All amazing activitys that anyone who does any adventure sport at a intermediate level can also pick up and dedicate some time to. Why waste all your time trying to force just one of those sports to be suitable for all conditions?

This crap all just reminds me of some warren miller skit where they go skiing without skiis in the summer without theyre being any snow and they just hop around and slide down a dirt mountain looking theyre best in neon lycra (you oldies have some exaining to do on all that 70s and 80s sport fashion) and trying not to impale themselves on theyre ski poles while wearing only boots.

The relevance of comparing kitesurfer kite weight with a paraglider is utterly lost on me. 1.6 KG for a kite is extremely ( almost unheard of ) light. To have a kite that weighs that little translates to easy flying and relaunch in the 5 to 15 kt range which was previously unusable with older, heavier, slug like equipment that is as manoeuvrable as a freight train. For people that live in places where light wind is common, or if you travel a lot, having someing that is lighter and gives you an extra bottom end allows them to do the sport fullstop. Without it there are many drawbacks.

It is a light wind performance revolution for sure, significantly more so than the gimmicky depower buttons , batterns, pulleys, or other stuff that has come out over the last decade and yielded not much change. Why limit yourself to 15 kts, and having to mow the law, if you can be cranking along in 10 or 6 kts doing whatever you like.

So to avoid confusion lets just talk fabrics

The Ozone 12 meter tube kites are beteren 3.7 KG !....... Alulua 12 meter tube kite is 2kg.

No point comparing apples with banannas.... The D series ripstop is in another solar system when compared with Aluula abraision resistance, tear resistance, and weight to strength. There is no comparison really...... probably why nobody racing is using D seies for mainsails or headsails.

What difference does 1.7 kgs make in a tube kite? I know i would absolutely destroy it in a season or 2 of constantly smashing it while trying to do unhooked kiteloop airpasses

Nearly all the lightweight fabric pushes for other canopy sports was about packsize and weight

Somethibg that hasnt even really been mentioned in kiteing. Pumps are huge heavy ruin travel space and can be replaced with bags you hold into the wind they fill with air connect hose to ya kite and squeeze the bag inflateing ya kite. but you still see everyone with a pump just like youll see everyone useing the wrong tools for the wrong job

Well.... all I can say is you should really.... really... try it before you throw mud. I have.

The reason you don't to " unhooked airpass kiteloops" in under 15 kts, is you are riding the wrong equipment :)

Foil kites in low wind are slower than the alulla kites. Its a fact - unless you are mowing the grass all day which I also do on a foil in light wind. The alula kites are much more manoeuvrable than the foil kites in light winds from my experience...

Now OR has made a kite that looks about 20% lighter than their previous version, using technology to make it stronger than heavy, older dacron designed kites. Nothing against them.... they have their place, just like Dacron sails have their place.... cruising boats.

Ill be sticking with the old and heavy in good winds

if they invent something to reduce concussions after catching back edges ill be on board with that
