Yes exactly apples and bananas
Tube kites are for kiteboarding not dilly dallying about in 5 knots
Tube kites are for trying tricks and crashing thousands of times
Tube kites are for freestyle kiteboarding
Do i want a light wind tube kite? Sure... why not... is it better at being a lightwind kite then a foil kite? No the performance isnt better then a foil kite.
So is it just a fabric then? Yes
Is it the lightest fabric used in kites? Not even close
What difference does 1.7 kgs make in a tube kite? I know i would absolutely destroy it in a season or 2 of constantly smashing it while trying to do unhooked kiteloop airpasses
Do i do unhooked kiteloop airpasses in below 15 knots? No.
So for me personally completely useless not that id ever consider touching a 4 line kite again.
I dont even like teaching on 4 liners
Well.... all I can say is you should really.... really... try it before you throw mud. I have.
The reason you don't to " unhooked airpass kiteloops" in under 15 kts, is you are riding the wrong equipment :)
Foil kites in low wind are slower than the alulla kites. Its a fact - unless you are mowing the grass all day which I also do on a foil in light wind. The alula kites are much more manoeuvrable than the foil kites in light winds from my experience...
Now OR has made a kite that looks about 20% lighter than their previous version, using technology to make it stronger than heavy, older dacron designed kites. Nothing against them.... they have their place, just like Dacron sails have their place.... cruising boats.
