Does anyone know how this 'Venturi' technology works. What are its design criteria?

Check their website eppo. Bit of blurb there.
Smooths out gusts a little..

I've been riding 2012 razors since jan. Very impressed... :) :) Well worth a demo.

My Mako 140 x 40 is a ripper. Really sweet board for trucking around in the chop off Perth beaches.

Great kite and made super strong.
mine ended up with my capabilities and ambitions getting mixed up with a kite loop to close to shore and the coconut nut palm shredding it like a blender,
'Venturi' technology works in the case of a supper strong gust and and to prevent back stalling if it happens.

How, how does this technology work. What do they use practically?

The Venturi Technology is what grabbed me initially.
In my major past life I designed & built environmental protection systems which included windbreaks so I know a bit about airflow, high & low pressure balance etc. etc.
The Venturi system is basically a vent in the canopy which allows some passage of air through the canopy. Its designed so that the lower the pressure over the kite (lift) &/or the greater the angle of attack the more air gets released from the 'high' below to the low above.
The result is twofold.
1) the kite can achieve a greater angle of attack before it backstalls into the turbulence at the trailing edge once the flow over & under the kite become unbalanced.
2) it will partially release any rapid change between the low over & high under the canopy - as in it smooths out gusts.
I had an Ocean Rodeo Rise traded in so I put it to the test on a day that was perfectly suited ie a gusty westerly 16 to 20kts with regular bullets hitting at, I reckoned, over 25kts.
It was amazing the gusty 16 to 20 was more like a seabreeze & the bullets were definitely still there but caused no major hit and the kite held its shape with no sign of jellyfishing.
I was impressed enough contact them & sort an agency.
Dont want to over pimp it but it definitely works. Incredible wind range esp top end.

The kites have a slit about 30cm from the trailing
Edge, with a flap of canopy over it. It changes the airflow over & under the canopy when strong gusts come thru the kite.

You still feel gusts but don't get your arms yanked off!.

Have a look at the website mate.

Simon.
