^^^I can't draw any similarities between the 2 vids you posted... as close as I get is that they are riding things that look like surfboards.
I could find more than that, but the way I look at it its all apples and oranges.
Strapped, hooked in, unstrapped, unhooked, offshore, onshore - even twintips. They all have different potentials and as long as they develop to improve the gear and performance in each, I think its all good - they can all go their own way.
I dont think trying to force any one of them toward something different is the way to go, but if you can learn something from another type of riding - great.
