We are happy to do some sort of an additional kite event around this as lots of kiters going to be up here for it anyways.
Any thoughts or idea are appreciated.

Doesnt look like any national are happening this year.. We need more events especially for freestyle and wave comps.

why is it this year as a nation as big as we are and with so many talented riders and shops for support can we not get a nationals happening, it is a shame and a bit enbarassing really, your thoughts ?

What makes it a national? Some 'ticket' or is it just the urge for Oz kiteboarders from all around oz to get together to have a bit of a comp and some fun?
Recently I was in Merimbula (south coast NSW) and caught up with some of the locals and now I'm really keen to take the time to get to Mambo in November this year - ok its more of a wave comp but either way its been going for years (30?? - or must be getting close to that!) and is an event that attracts peps from all over.......so is this a national event??

Call it what you want,,,if something comes together i would like to take oli up for his first taste of competion (junior) and encourage Airlie crew also as a team effort...........
as a non kiter i'm happy to help where i can,, on beach / saftey boat...
an idea... freeride course loop,, manditory components,,, eg toeside leg a trick section...kiss
Good luck with it Marvin,, hope the other NQ regions get on board and at least make a local derby of it...........

Cause a few like Marvin seem to be the only ones that organise these events. And with all the tours right now around the world, most are simply out of time.

The question should be directed to AKSA imo.

Not laying anything on existing bodies ,, Kiters from the base line have to do something,,not a shame put a team together come to NQ and support an event that may become a most do when ya old....

Why do we need to compete? Why not just have a tour of mambo/corona style events with just social kiting and drinking games. Big BBQ, coupla bands and new friends made. Competing in kiting is a bunch of wank and a waste of Funtime...

I agree with BennyB12 on the premise that it might involve karaoke.

Yea kiss for average jo/ann ...competing is not a wank, a good mix of funkite and serious could make a sweet event ,,something for everybody....
are you going to bring your gf along to pull beer while ya havin fun...I like the mambo idea,, better leave it to Marvin and see what comes..see ya there

why compete? to push the sport. without competition the level of riding around the world wouldn't be anywhere near where it is, in any discipline.

probably a good reason why the europeans are such better kiters than the aussies (that's a generalisation, i know) is because they have a lot of competitions held regularly.

i'm not saying it's for everyone, but without it the sport wouldn't be what it is today

I hear Marvin pulls some mean parties around these events, with hot cars, women, loud techno music and yeah... drinking games! think of Fast n Furious but with kites - real nice crispy kites flapping and women strutting.

Give it a fair go, come up with some constructive ideas,, old but good posted today..FNose about the loud tekno, everyone likes after play party,, drinking games played too many to give a toss now but remember it being fun at the time !!
If all you can do is make a tool post ya probally not even thinking of heading to NQ so why bother.....Fair Go Mate
