I'm new on this site and new to the hobby! In fact, so new I haven't been out yet! I have my kite, wetsuit and harness, just waiting for my board and my lessons of course!
Im hoping to learn alot in the next while and hoping to see alot more ladies join the sport! Any very NB tips for beginners are welcomed!!! :)

My advice would be just keep on trying......they'll be some great days and some frustrating days, they'll be days when you improve lots and days when you feel like you've taken 3 steps back again, sometimes it will be because of different more challenging conditions, sometimes it will just be you.

When you start, it will be áll i wanna do is get up on the board'
When your up on the board it will be 'all i wanna do is turn
When you can turn, it will be áll i wanna do is go upwind
AND then, it will be áll i wanna do is JUMP.'' WOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!

And you will.

Lessons are all good and you can learn heaps from asking down the beach or even just watching what others do.

Hey thanks a lot for the tips guys! I am CERTAIN i will be addicted like everyone on this forum!! I have sleepless nights just thinking how much fun I'm going to have and I haven't even been out! I have power-kited before and loved it so am sure this is going to be awesome!
I'm only planning one lesson to get the basics as I have mates that K/surf and are excellent and of course willing and eager to get a new recruit going! :)

the first rule, well actually the second rule , as first is to bring beer, but second rule is kitesurfing isn't a hobby, its an addiction and lifestyle

Hey there, Hope you really enjoy getting into it. Last season was my first and I learnt alot by watching the guys and girls on the beach and walking up to them for a chat. Next best thing i did was to spend time with a friend who had been kiting for a while and he watched what I was doing and gave me some great advice that really sped things up and stopped me from developing bad habits. Stick with it though cause it can be frustrating.

Yes,
Goto Langebaan, its a top spot to learn. Flat and fairly shallow water and then tackle Big Bay once you are confident.

Unlike our temperate water and not quite so strong wind. Still, there's enough to keep us happy.

Ahhh yes, addicted to say the least!
Kiting overtakes the importance of relationships, uni work and family sometimes, but if you're lucky enough to connect a few of them, its a bonus!

I've been kiting for around 3 years, with 2 years of that actual kiting, and the other year no water time at all; busy lives.

Yes it will probably take you that time to get up going upwind on the board, but.... Ladies input... Keep trying, and at least when we stack it, everyone looks! =P Do the best stacks haha!

You should take Pat up on his offer to hang while he is in CT. Top bloke, great kiter, and well known around the CT area and WA, Aus.

Are you wanting to move to Australia anytime or not?! =]

pfft, pull the other one, it plays 'Mary Had a Little Lamb'. 1/3 maybe.

Caveman would get 2.5/3 though, and only because he's not well known in Australia. Goes by 'Brad' on ikiteboarding.com (and to his parents I expect), I see you've signed in over there as well. Look out for him, he operates the downwind shuttle service over there.
