Hi all.

Wonder if any one who has insider knowledge knows if we can expect a 2013 Ozone bar this summer?
Any updates?

They have put it off for another year. Stated reason is manufacturing quality problems with the plastic parts supplier.
I got two 2013 bars with my 2013 Edges and a promise to swap over to the new Megatron units around Christmas but that's all off now. The new bar is much the same as last year with a magnetic arrangement to hold the dangling depower rope out of the way. It's a total failure. It keeps falling off whenever I get busy tricking and the depower rope wraps itself around the lines. (when fully depowered) So now, I have to untangle that as well as untwist the centre lines. It's still one of the poorest control system designs on the market for anyone who wants to do lots of rotations.

what do you reckon, Ride an Ozone Reo with another brands bar?
I wonder what is the best/most affordable bar that works.

Core bars are good?
Best bars are cheap...

ANy ideas?!

Wainman bars are great for rotations, the swivel system is the first I have ever used that actually works properly!!

Yep, new Ozone bar should be available by August next year from what I heard. Until then the current Ozone bar is your best bet for your Reo. You will struggle to find a better bar as I don't know any other bars who have the same single line safety safety system with the ''V'' split of the center lines that close to the bar...any different bar and lines configuration will give you poorer results than the Ozone bar...

One of the best bars that will be available in two weeks, will fit any kite by just putting some pigtails on there to suit your kites attachments;

i have had this bar since last week and have put it through its paces, its comfy, versatile and packed full of good features not fluff. Everyone who has seen it was very impressed.

Did you not read what Rob S just wrote ????

Its been widely known by knowledgeable kiters - not the stupid ones you can fool... That the bar has been outdated for the last few years and barely better than the old Naish 5 line bar... will be good to see a real bar from a brand that sells good kites !

and yes any bar works just as well or better

$449.00 RRP

This bar system is two bars in one with the ability to switch length like some of the other bars out there. there is a slight bend in the bar that makes it very comfy (takes the pressure off your elbows).
The chicken loop is a push away style and by far the best i have used yet, there is a rubber overmold around it similar to the soft rubber on a toothbrush handle but much harder wearing that gives good grip for when you want to release. If you do un hook the CL sits in the union and does not move making it easy to hook back in.

Up top the swivel houses a sealed ceramic bearing that turns smoothly and you can see it working when you rotate!!

Plus magnets and salt water = instant rust. Who thought that one up? I cut my magnets pouches off my 2012 bar and opened them; it was just metal rust dust left that was surprisingly still magnetic.

Suicide is easy, you clip the safety around the loop and through the ring in the centre, or you can just go around the double lines as well and the hook sits in the space between the CL and union in the bar.

ive a mate from the uk who,s involved with ozone, last he told me was the manufacturer wasnt providing the standard that they wanted on some of the pvc parts, so instead of having a bar that theyd get recalled they chose to find another thatd make it up to their standards which was proving difficult, i then heard that a supplier for the bar had financial difficulties which was another kick in the teeth, ive been flying edges for 3 years and flogging them with no issues with kites or bars, imo the bar may be a bit dated but its still up there for ease of use and safety,

The actual bar has been upgraded, new improved slightly thinner grip and an improved metal centre-hole (graphic on bar also changed). The whole bar is also now aluminum instead of fiberglass. Bar ends remain the same with updated line float graphics to match kites. Centre line throw length has been decreased on C4 models to a more optimised length.

I have also heard about new C-loop system, Bar ends and Swivel, but as stated above unfortunately they had a problem with quality of suppliers so they couldn't release them just yet. Which in my opinion is far better for users than what other big name brands (e.g. Cab, SS, Best) have done in the past, releasing untested and sometimes dangerously faulty products just so they can have the newest most tech looking thing coming out... you can make your own mind up there.

For my type of riding I think the bar is pretty much perfect, It's clean as can be with minimal clutter and useless stuff (I remove extra depower line). Obviously everyone is different.

Yeh I got a new - old bar for my new 11m edge and I just don't see what the fuss is all about?

It is a real nice functional unit. Swivel works fine by hand (I ride it in the suicide thingy), lines a really good quality...just simple and effective.

Maybe we are all addicted to new gear...me included.

Just wish it had a stopper for no hand big air stuff that's all really.

Sorry by ''current Ozone bar'' I meant the 2012 bar, I haven't seen the different bar this year yet and can't comment on that.

The main problem with the bar is (in my view) the safety system. If the front lines are slack you need two hands to release (pulling it towards your body)... not great for wave riding.
The slingshot bar would be OK without looping the trim line back to the under bar cleat, instead leading it through the Ozone's trim cleat system. But the slingshot flying lines are set to unequal lengths, so the Ozone flying lines have to be fixed there with appropriate adjustments.
I will try this out.
