Hi all,

We have a new freestyle kiteboarding competition in WA!

I am pleased to announce that we have secured approval to host an event at Safety Bay on Saturday 1st (or 8th) of December.

This is to be a new format freestyle competition, low pressure, no elimination heats, judging panels, score sheets or time limits. This is to be a fun freestyle jam session...

Welcome to KiteJam!

This competiton is all about bringing keen and talented riders together for a great day, to ride hard, have fun, and put on a show for WA to see what kiteboarding is all about.

The event is organised to be a freeride session, this means that the riders are free to ride as much as they want, but also encouraged to take breaks in the competitors lounge for a ringside view of the action. At the end of the event all competitors will be given the chance to vote for their favourite riders, the votes will be counted over a few beers, and the winner decided.

We will be putting out a kicker, slider, good tunes, refreshments, food and prizes for all competitors.

We would love to see spectators make the journey to the event. It is a great venue for a freestyle competiton, easy road-side access, parking, shade and sheltered areas are also available. This is going to be some of the best kiteboarding action that Australia has to offer, featuring some of the countries top riders, and visiting international talents.

Find out all about it at: www.kitejam.org

Competitor registration will be open soon, please keep an eye on the website for new announcements and details...

See you all there!

here's the slider.

Might have a second one available if Bradley and I can pull our $#!7 together.

Dimensions for the Kicker are, hit it fast and it'll chuck you big! I think that's to the decimal place!

I've told this to heaps of people, even if they aren't really good they should still enter. Events are always heaps of fun and it doesn't matter if you win or lose. Normally theres some sweet teo's and stuff for entering also.

I'll actually be staying in Rockingham for the week before that on holiday, so i'll definitely drop by! I'm not really up to a level where i'd even contemplate 'competing' but i'll be there with the camera and another kiteboarding mate as spectators.
Great to see some some skills in action. Fingers crossed for good winds.

pout pout pout! I won't be able to attend since I'll be touring Europe for 3 weeks. Kudos on your effort and wish you all the best with the event! If I'd been around I would have gladly offered you my DJ services to provide some smashing tunes for the event!

Sad I can't make it as I will be owned by the ocean somewhere else.

However, I offer a free ticket to the person who wants to go and can make the best case on this thread for why they can't afford the 20 bucks. Deadline is this Friday.

Things are all looking good for the event, its gonna be fun!

A few points to add:

It is mandatory that all competitors have their WAKSA membership. please ensure that this is paid and current by the 28th of November. No entry without it!

(This is well worth getting anyway, as it gets you entry to all Kite related events this season, covers you for those nasty insurance liability issues, but also goes towards funding events like this, Kitestock, Downwinders etc...)

Food and drinks are provided for competitors and Staff all day, and a sausage and burger sizzle will be available for all spectators too.

The open entry format means that there are no divisions for opens, mens, juniors or ladies.. Everyone joins the Jam on the same level.. However prize giving and voting will be set up to accomodate a seperate ladies division. Juniors don't get any breaks, they will be grouped with the mens open. [}:)] Most of you youngsters are killing the open riders anyways!!

Pre registration is important: This enables us to check your WAKSA membership, and also to organise logistics for the event. Competitor numbers are limited, so get on it soon.. Visit the registration tab on: www.kitejam.org

Here's hoping for wind...

See you all out there!
