Hi everyone.

I have an 06 7m best waroo kite that I still enjoy riding with. The only problem is that where the bridal connects to the leading edge is starting to rip out (only slightly). Being a high wind kite I need to know that it is safe to fly. Are there any ideas of how to fix it? I've currently got gaffa tape wrapped around the bottom of the connection loop that sticks out of the LE where the bridal connects to, in an attempt to stop it from spreading apart and ripping even more (not sure if that all makes sense). I'm not too sure if this method will last too long.

Any help appreciated.

Probably best to chuck it and buy a windsurfing rig

That and it'd buy a new one or something to save you from a kitemare and potentially getting your sport banned in your local area

Yeah come to stir a bit, but we all do the same sport (riding the wind/wind-harnessing), just different styles, so info is info and haven't had many kiters around my spots so trying to understand a bit so in future can co-exist in harmony on the water (and stir you on seabreeze), fair enough?

you dont have to worry too much about co-existing with us kiters at flattop,I find it hard to find regulars to kite with.

If we get in the way,let us know cause we all want to enjoy it and not annoy each other.Think its all pretty good,I kept well out of your guys way at the comp and with the few of us that ride the spot there is room for all.

Where was everyone(anyone)today at 4pm?????wind was awsome(not for long)and was out by myself???????

I think you will find "dangleing" as you called it, alot of fun if your game enough to have a go.

Tough call without seeing it josh. Tape isnt going to hold it though, might help but will eventually just make a mess. Take it to a local repairer. Will probably charge you 50 bucks tops and you can be certain that it is going to be fixed.

Lotofwind - nah that isn't me with the red subaru, i've only been windsurfing for a bit been inland so just starting to make it into the bumpy stuff

Have had a sail on the side (muck round pre-event) at the NSW Wavesailing Titles at Hearns Lake, plan to get out there over summer if get any time (hope so, great place)

Why no try eachothers sport (being a jack-of-all-trades-but-master-of-none sounds good to me), but i'll need to get better at mine first!

Surfingboyo - really happy with my sport as was a dinghy sailor, so windsurfing being sailing feels more natural to me, but i'd try it, not gunna say no to anything for pride, extra side skills are never bad. Plus, you s#itstir us as much as we you, all is fair in love and war (how bloody poetic of me!), does that make you a closet-poley? I wonder...

Lot of Wind - It'll be good to have some windy mates, been learning in Bello River by myself so far

p.s. Can someone please help galeforce out, he needs assistance, sorry Galeforce for sidetracking you issue. I reccomend getting a cheap repair, not worth your safety man (but I don't kite so listen to others)

dont use it if other kiters in the water,you will endanger us if it fails.
but if only poledancers in the water....go for it.

See I bait ya's and automatically get called a closet-kiter, but you bait us and don't get called closet-windsurfers, so who is secretly wanting to change sports, haha

Do many sail there often? Will there always be an 'easy' section for the beginner ocean sailors/kiters?

yeah dism,more regular windsurfers than kiters,its a top spot,everyone helps each other out no matter of skill level or what they choose to enjoy the buzz of harnessing the wind.Come down and enjoy over summer,if we get some good seabreezes that is.If still learning the ropes,all good,none of us are hardcore shreaders,local widsurfers are all good blokes as you probably already know, they will help you out with any questions you might have.
Always a good vibe in the water.
If you bring a 6pack you will get much respect

Its a top spot to be introduced to rideing in the surf cause in the corner is usually almost flat water and as you get further down wind you get more swell the further down you go.

In my limited experience,if in dought,repair or replace what ever has you concerned.In the times i havent,eventually it has ended up with a swim in or have done more damage and cost more to repair than if I did it in the first place.

Cheers lotofwind for the tips, will be down there, awaiting some wavesails and a decent boom and harness (want to minimise any mishaps to just my ineptness!)

Yeah that flat corner at the Wavesailing titles was good stuff, so that is normally there with a Northerly wind? Is it mirrored over the other side when its a southerly? I guess swell direction mess with this flatspot, or is it protected by a reef or something?

I really enjoyed by brief foray at the spot, went fastest ever been (shame had crazy forearm pump from some rockclimbing)

edit: Galeforce, gafftape works wonders on boats (often kept mine afloat to finish regattas when boats t-bone ya), but think on a kite you need your kit to be in good nick, you don't wanna become one of the classic how-not-to-kite videos out there (not good for anyone, especially you apart from a laugh), so you might be pov, but guaranteed it'll be cheaper then loosing a kit,board or an injury, so go get you LE repaired!

I agree, get it repaired professionally. The cost of fixing the problem will be less than replacing the kite or bits of yourself if you have a catastrophic failure. Most guys do such a good job that you will hardly be able to tell where the repair is.

I wish this thread hadn't degraded to a Poleys vs Kiters joke fest, because this is quite a serious issue. You should post some photos before and after repair as well so people can see what sort of a job has been done.

Yeah, I think i will get it repaid properly, although it really isn't that bad, I'm just being a stress head lol

Plus, it's your kite, if it's anything like our gear, you wanna keep it in good knick and you end up spending all your cash on it anyway, so might as well spend a bit more keeping it upkept
