... its a good sign if the big brands are looking at it... means its not a gimmick maybe

i saw a strutless kite recently and didnt appear to be that much more spectacular in light wind than normal kites (brief observation)
guess now that naish are producing these we will have a better chance of being able to demo these.. look forward to it
now just sit back and wait till they bleed out all the design and durablilty issues if there are any

Looks like the perfect one kite quiver. With the 'light wind' coverage, it should be perfect for my desired wind range of 5 to 35 knots.
I'm very pleased that it looks like they've included the 'anti-stiction' windows near the wing tips.

they add new lines every season so their kites may not be as refined as other brands.

Eg Naish park is a copy of Slingshot RPM , except RPM has been fine tuned over about 6 generations or so.

North Rebel- tuned over 8 generations.

so many new kites in line up, i wonder are they really as tuned and refined as they could be?

As long as they dont look like the Mcdonalds logo anymore

Salt has some vaild points . Also maybe we should start at list of sh!t kites Naish have produced in the past???... Just not sure if I have the time to list them all .

Hats off to Naish they try some new things and without this the market place would be pretty stale without something different in the sky. While the Helix shape was not everyone's cup of tea it was good at what they marketed it at.

Naish dont just throw something into market they do spend a lot of time in R&D phase so give them some credit :)

Im keen to try this kite out just for fun, the Ride (2 struts) is actually a good little kite!

If this kite is any good at what it claims to be I'd seriously consider picking one up.

I've just spent 5 weeks travelling around Cuba and Mexico - I spent a week in Tulum, which was a sick kiting spot. Unfortunately didn't have my gear as it would have been a nightmare lugging it around all the places I visited and I only had a couple of mornings when I could have gone out kiting anyway.

A nice compact kite like this would be a godsend. I'm definitely at the freeride, wave end of the spectrum, and I love going to new locations just for the visuals and the "discovery aspect" Kitesurfing in front of the Mayan ruins at Tulum would have been a pretty sweet experience.

All I would have needed to do would be hire a board and be on my way. Hiring equipment in Mexico was expensive and the gear looked to be 3 seasons old, and not in brilliant condition.

Naish X3 18m was a great kite .......just as long as you didn't want to turn or relaunch!

you think you got it bad traveling with gear, windsurfing is SHOCKING, but im guessing thats why you can almost hire gear any where in the world

wow so much naish bagging, even though they helped pioneer kiting right from its beginning yes there's always going to be mistakes along the way but everyone has them. Remember the old hyundai cars cheap nasty and always falling apart now look where they are Or samsung phones wow I bought one when the flip phone came out swore I'd never buy samsung again, now I have there latest galaxy phone.
Point is in 12 months everyone else (kite brands) will most likely sit and wait and if naish pulls it off then alot a these companys will be lining up to buy there new design features and patterns.
I say good on Naish for taking a gamble and best wishes

Would love to try it to have an opinion on performance but in my eyes the travel side is bs, really how much space would you save, I bet if you put this kite and a 3 strut kite well packed side by side there would be very little difference if any at all,

My kites luckily have struts that are hollow so they don't add much weight.

My kite struts deflate....

Is that Naish kite one pump?

There are a few reasons there are some no strut kites on the horizon.
At least Naish and Airush have the Kahunas to put it out there.

I see some possible benefits-

-Extremely powerful in the bottom end and light winds. I would be interested to see what winds the larger Airush get going in. These kites could very well readjust current thinking about light wind fun.

- The weight benefits in the lighter kite aren't JUST for travel. Anybody who has flown the 2 Strut Ride or Fly will mention the quick response of these kites to input and how fast the kite climbs in the window when compared to heavier kites.

- Less to pump up

- Less bladders to leak

- Something else for Rowdy to whine about.

Possible down sides-

- Limited Top end (This is still mostly affected by design though)
- Wind won't hold my kite down when parked on the beach?
- Harder to carry kite off the beach.
- Could possibly get messier when dropped in a wave.

Benefits aren't exactly outweighing the cons there Jason :D

Yeah because we all know kite-mags give completely unbiased legit reviews... .

surely the real worry would be relaunch and low wind crash stability?
