I'm guessing August / September for the Naish gear. Some brands are July / August.

Check the straps out! Very cool lookin - love all the new systems comin out this year!

Also think it's cool the way they aren't printing sizes on the wingtips - further up looks really good!

It looks like the sigma shape has been 'toned down' this year especially from the 08 helix, interesting!

I think that's called incremental back peddling?

Can't believe they are sticking with that lemon of a design-get over it already.

Rhys-if the best you can say about the 2010 gear is-cool looking straps and cool putting sizes up the wing tips-there's not much substance there to entice a buyer.......

From the look of this 2010 Helix it seems like it is a pure delta kite + sigma shape.
I think Helix is slowly becoming the second choice after Torch.

I wonder if they changed their line system (to something similar to Core kites bar perhaps ) cause 2009 bars were not that impressive.

I really like the old above the bar system they had on the 2007 gear. It was easy to use and clean below the bar.

I think the more rounded shape in the leading edge will be to reduce stress at the joins and improve the flight characteristics.

I don't know what people have against the Helix shape. I have never heard complaints from anyone that rides it, and people are always interested to find out about it even when I pull out my natty 08 Helix.

I agree on the 2007 bars.

On the Helix shape-I believe it is just a marketing gimmick (one that didn't work judging by their reduced market share)-a change for the sake of change, rather than a change for improvement's sake.

Naish doesn't need to rely on marketing gimmicks! The brand itself is a marketing tool that has a legend of Windsurfing and Kitesurfing behind it.

I think the Helix shape does make a difference, the main thing being the canopy doesn't flap when depowered. And my 9m Helix really shoots to the front of the wind window, just by giving a bit more back foot pressure. You need to pump it up nice and hard though.

I think the fact that the Alliance no longer exists shows how brilliant the Torch is and probably was more of a development step.

I'll be considering replacing my 12m Boxer SLE with a 12m Helix this summer.

...No more sigma shape ...

Well I don't agree with you, I had 06 slingshot fuel, 07 best nemesis, 08 helix, 09 cult and 09 core GT.
Sigma shape have two centers of power and it makes it more predictable.
All the other kites have one center of power on the center of the wing but sigma creates two power centers and it reduce the chance of change of direction during a cross wind gust or rotating under the kite during the jump as most of the times your kite and your bar are parallel.

While we are talking about bar, what I love about core bar is:
1) you don't need any setup for unhook
2) If your chicken loop get out of the harness hook by accident or you use the safety release, you can hook back in EASY in the water.
What I don't like is:
1) that small power hook which most of the times get hooked when you don't want it.

I hope Naish look at core's bar and change their bars a little bit.

Just cut off the micro loop, Idiot.

Some nice looking gear from Naish, I like the Torch graphic with the guy in the suit and what looks to me like a scary balinese mask.
The full wood boards look amazing, drool, drool.
Those Thorn TT's look like they are perfectly disguised to hide from you when you're body dragging looking for your board. I like bright, high vis boards.

That micro loop looks like trouble to me. The only time I would be using it is if I felt like getting a powered up caning from my kite, whilst frantically trying to unhook it, which is er, never.

What is the point? Enlighten me.

F**k me guys the sigma shape rocks and i would be more than happy to to put it up against any kite and show how superior it is. These kites have taken my riding to places i didn't know it could go and the new ones look sick.

cant be bothered.... At least sir rowdy is consistent in his hate for all kites that are not C shape.

Kites look sick can't wait to get mine and test them out.

When your hands are tired from the bar pressure and you still want to ride full power you can use it.
Exactly like the stopper that you have on your Naish bar.
The difference is you can accurately setup your power on Naish bar or Slingshot bar but its not easy to work with this thing

I got rid of the bullet thing and stopper on my centre line (I have an 07 bar) as it catches on the bar and I have a habit of resting my right thumb on the centre line, so I kept cutting my hand. I also have long arms and can use most of the bar travel.

My hands would be the last thing to get tired. Its mainly my legs that get tired.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to trying out the new 12m Helix kite as a replacement for my Boxer SLE 12m. Only issue is the price premium over other brands.

I'm still happily riding my 12 Alliance and actually just picked up an 8 Alliance to go with it. Yes, they're a little less hardcore than the Torch but that's not a bad thing for everyone. The Alliances are actually quite a bargain at the moment for anyone wanting to step up to something C-like. I guess when i wear them out then i'll move over to the Torches.

As for the 2010 Naish gear, it's good to see they've brought an 11m Torch in to slot in between the 10m & 12m. The 10m Torch had the turning speed and the 12m had the grunt, so with any luck the 11m is the perfect compromise.

The rounded Sigma shape of the '10 Helix is something i'm still yet to hear properly justified. I personally really like the way the sigma's fly, but each to their own.
The colour schemes i'm not a massive fan of - but each year has some really disgusting schemes and some really nice ones. Purple & black has always been one of my Naish favourites from the last few years, but the grey & electric orange is also nice.

I think they are going to be great kites, This years were nice, particularly the Helix. By the looks of it they have removed the Geotech for 2010. May feel a little more C-Kite-ish now. Kites look good, not a delta...still the sigma shape. Am dead keen to give them a run this year.
