NSWKBA sponsored a weekend at Seven Mile Beach Gerroa on the NSW South Coast this past weekend to help chick kiters get started kiting or improve their skills.
There are a few photos on my web page at
kitesurfing.com.au/ and more on the way.
About 40 chicks + partners, kids, dogs and others came along for the fun.
Selena, NSWKBA Secretary and owner of GriffinKiteboarding handled all the logistics and even organised some perfect wind. Great job Selena -- everything went like clockwork.
The rain backed off by midday on Saturday after bucketing down Sat morning and we had perfect 8-10 knots for the rest of the day which allowed everyone a chance to fly a trainer kite and quite a few to do a bit of body dragging.
By Sunday morning a nice nor'easters kicked in, sky cleared a bit and we had about 10-12 knots for a couple hours so everyone had a chance to get in the water for at least one or two runs.
By 3pm it started to get a bit heavy for teaching so we packed up the trainer gear, and Chris, Arthur, George, Morgan and I did a downwinder in about 25 knots to the end of the beach at Shoalhaven Surf club, ending off a great weekend.
Great thanks to everyone who volunteered time and chipped in. Big thanks also to Balmoral Boards for loaning loads of gear to help.
Everyone had a great weekend and seems we've got a considerable new pool of kitesurfers keen to join the fray and I suspect, keen for some additional lessons.
Cheers,
Rob
