Just finished my first Moon tour to Taveuni, Fiji. In response to a previous post asking how these tours are, here is my views: It was one of the best experiences ever. Trent and Steph sure knows their stuff, and goes out of their way to make the trip interesting.
Kiting was challenging as a beginner at the start (use to the consistent wind and deep water of WA) - 30knt+ at the start, down to about 15kts in sometimes ankle deep water depending on the tide. Always had a rescue boat available for the high tide off shore days. I learnt a lot, progressed even more. Had young James Carew, Kyle Smith, Bérénice Diveu and Dugall Maclean with us to add to the experience.
Only had 2 1/2 windfree days during the 10 day trip - but this was filled with unbelievable tours, walks, boat tours and waterfall jumps. The diving is out of this world. Its off the beaten track (for now), with amazingly friendly people.
It is definately worth every cent, and in my mind a bargain for what you get. I would definitely recommend going on one of these regardless of what your level is, everybody achieved what the set out to do by the end of it.
As for gear - I'm 98kg, and my mate is 78kg. Between us we had 8, 10.5, 12 and 15.5m kites - this covered us for almost all the sessions. Its a bit of a trek to get there, but you will not be disappointed.

I'll second that........ Was on an earlier trip and had an amazing holiday, surfing little known reefs, swimming with mantas, great diving, beautiful scenery and people.... oh and some great kiting was just a bonus.
The trip appealed to me for the 'adventure' part and my expectations were well met, Taveuni is a beautiful island and Trent and Steph make sure every day is a new adventure, oh and it's not such a big trek from the East Coast, 4hrs from Brizzie then a beautiful scenic 1.5hr flight in a little puddle jumper!!

haha yeah definately love taveuni. Somethng wrong yet so right about local farmers bearing big grins, waving with one hand and a machete in the other. People are the friendliest and genuine ive ever seen. Longboat treks and driving through beatn junglle tracks to uncrowded reefs adds to the adventure.

Looks good, so you had those 4 kites only?
What sizes did you use the most? and how did it work if you both wanted say, the 10.5 at the same time ?

Because of the 20kg weight difference we were ok as I was always a size up. The first few days I used the 10.5, then the 12 (this was the most used one for me), and finally the 15.5 for the last few session. In the odd occasion that we both needed the same kite, we just took turns (and as we both are still learning, provided a welcome rest!) Trent had a few extra kites we could try out in different sizes. The only size missing was a 9m for me, as the first couple of days I was underpowered on the 8, and overpowered on the 10.5... The biggest limiting factor is the weight allowance for the flights. Make sure you book Quantas all the way through and you will have 30kg. Just be prepared to pay around A$60 for the Nadi/Tavueni leg as your kite bag will be "oversize". As per my post in "Gear Review", my kite bag weighed just over 23kg all up, which left me with around 7kg for clothes and do on. You will be in boardies most of the time, but will need atleast 1 jumper (some days were cool, and most evenings).
We also had rain most days, although it was mostly early mornings and late evening, and short spells, so not bad at all. We had quite large tides as well (as it is so shallow). Hated wearing them, but would definately recommend booties (esp if you are a beginner).
