I didn't see any competition just 100 kiters going out at the same time getting tangled , no organization, no scores ,no judging sistem ,no waves

Not taking away from the kiters who competed and won titles in Merimbula, they all ripped in those conditions. Merimbula is a great good vibe event, just think the National Wave comp should not be a jam style, it should have heats, proper judging system and competition structure. A spectator wouldn't have known who won the comp, who was competing. Just my opinion, and that's why I didn't compete. Anyway I liked the photos and thought I would share, not to start argument

I think the problem is the title and opening paragraph suggests we are looking at national title photo's that you didn't compete in, but all we see is photo's of you not competing.

They are good pics and awesome that you share, but be careful not to be inadvertently political unless that's what yr doing??

From my inadvertently political pov, be wary of formal competitions, kiting has a pretty good atmosphere and it would be a shame if it became over the top competitive. But throw some judges in the mix and hunger for topdog crown will potentially individualise the sport.

On a side note. How good is the Merimbula area? So chilled out even you WA locals would be envious.

I really hope you haven't cropped the watermark out of that second photo.

Ive never been to Merimbula but I'd agree with Leo - A comp is a comp. 4 people, 4 judges, limited time. Anything else isn't a comp.

I agree also. Mambo isnt the place for nationals fullstop. Its not a world class kiting spot. Its a sick event dont get me wrong. Anyway im sure there was more behind the scene that governed the decision to hold it there.

For everyone winging about not having a proper Comp. Get off your lazy arse and organise one yourself. Call KA, get thier backing, insurances, funding. Call your local.council and fill out the million paper forms to be knocked back 20 times before you get it through. then after all that have the bloody comp and deal with everyone who didnt win calling you a C_/T because they think they should win. After all that, back it up year after year, hell maybe for 37 freakin years. Then, only then do you get to have a dig at peoples decisions to have a nation title were theybwant to have a national title.
