Heading to Marrawah for some waveriding. Any advice would be appreciated. Where exactly would you go on a WNW?

Kited marrawah a couple of times in swesterly and was possibly one of my best sessions since kiting, I'm not overly familiar with the spot but I'd say a wnw wouldn't be as good as being onshore a fair bit, in a swester you have to walk north to where the little creek which shows as large pebbles on the sandy beach, launch just north as the headland where bbq shelter is play's with the wind, causing big shadows which you don't want in the swell it gets ,top spot to hang out although a tad remote but there's a pub that does one of the best steaks from cape grim, also a little store and fuel station ,greenpoint for surf great walks ,mtb, I'd like to see Stanley as it looked a wicked spot potentially with wind, top spot Tasmania loved it
Hit FOS up as he's a local and might be able to give tips, also the tassy windsurf group gives good info

Yeah a bit onshore with the WNW. I can definitely see the potential. Unfortunately the pub was closed! I'll have to get back for a steak...

I took s gravel road to the south with a great bay (waves) about 10 mins from marrawah, best steak I had was at Stanley pub next to the fire with a great draught Guinness

Surprised you were able to get to Marrawah. The entire northwest is in lockdown because of the outbreak. We have the highest rates of COVID in the country. So well done for getting past the police road blocks.

I'm pretty jealous. I'm in quarantine, and have been for a fortnight. Exposed to the virus. Just had my second set of swabs.

NW I wouldn't hit Marrawah. You can kite it in a noreaster (I never have) or sou-wester.

Never explored the west coast for norwester options. Might find something - perhaps the angle at bluff beach might work? Not sure about that

In a NW, the best spot depends on the tide and what the swell in the strait is like. Monster swell at low tide launch from Turners and kite upwind to hit the break in front of the point. If it's not that big, just off the beach is better. Baker's great as long as there's a swell

At high tide Moorlands near Devonport airport.

If there's no swell, duck river mouth or possibly port sorrel

Most of these beaches are closed at the moment anyway. If there's signs up about beach closures, don't go out. You will give the local crew a bad reputation and make it hard for us in future.
