Much smoother. I highly recommend it!
On a side note I used my other pump today - at 6psi kite was harder than at 10psi on the other gauge. I knew there was a reason I didn't take any notice of it.

...and sand in it doesn't help either.

WD40 works nicely but too ends up making a mess through your kite bag

Did you mean sac not bag?
Careful, many oils / greases can dissolve rubber and actually end up making it sticky or breaking up in the long run.

Silicone spray or Mr Sheen works fine on pumps.
Your girlfriend will probably like it if she sees you with a can of Mr Sheen ... just be careful where you spray it.

Share the stroke you say??
Sorry - couldn't resist.
Tried olive oil on my pump but no luck. Thought WD40 etc would rot the rubber so will try a silicone spray.

yeah wipe all the sand out and spray with silicone spray = works a treat.
Good tip is to zip your pump in your kitebag when your all pumped up, they seem to last longer.

I use, ''INOX'' Food Grade Machinery Greese.
No problems, with Petro based chemicals as it contains none..
& has one major bonus, being it is safe to eat and clear/yellow in colour.
Availiable at, Plumbing suppliers in 250ml tubes.
