Another season beginning and no one around. Not complaining though it would be nice to see a few tourists back here.

I am sure all the families who rely on tourism share your view. Nobody is getting out of Oz any time soon :(

Holy **** dude. I've heard Lakeys is good for wave kiting but you're smashing the heck out of those lips. Hope the rest of lockdown stays as uncrowded as that for ya if you're still there.

How crowded (outside of lockdown) is it typically when the wind gets a little cross-shore at Lakey? Do kiteless surfers stay in the water and get all angsty with people who have kites? Given how grumpy and purist many surfers are I've wondered a bit how the culture change might work in spots like Lakeys and Namotu where people are now doing both.

It gets VERY crowded with kitesurfers, particularly Euros, surfers tend to come in when the wind comes in at Nungas and lesser extent at the peak, BUT not so much at Pipe, wind is still good there to surf AND kite. It's great to be there as a surfer and kiter, if tide's good surf the morning offshore, come in and breakfast and watch the wind line come in - such fun - just wish it was a right - there some good really long downwinders to do too - waves the whole way if swell.

Thanks for the info. I may have done my dash trying (in vain) to find uncrowded waves in Indo. I'd guessed it's quickly become much the same even with the addition of a kite. :(

Hey Large Piece, general rule over here is to give way to surfers. meaning if they are paddling for a wave you give them a chance to catch it, this applies mainly at nungas where those photos are. Pipe on the other hand is short in comparison. If guys are surfing it and there is 3-4 surfers it is better to give it a miss. lower tides at pipe is when it is good to kite without surfers. Still plenty of uncrowded waves to kite in Indo.

Cool. Good to see some etiquette has developed between both pursuits. I might get back to Indo and kites also packed on day. I took a couple to Telos on a surf trip but the wind was pretty light most of the time. It also looks like (since lockdown) that Samoa and Fiji might be easier options. Thanks for the info!
