Well for years the number one priority has been to power myself by a kite. I don't really care what I'm using to get my kite fix. kiteboard, landboard, skateboard, buggy.
As long as I'm driven by the wind.....
Any way at times it leaves you frustrated because you can't go when the wind is good or when you can go the wind doesn't play ball.
So... a couple weeks back I get a new mountainbike. That's not unusual, I've been mountainbiking for 20 years. But I guess this particular bike is the holy grail of bikes for me. Its a revalation of gloriousness that has re-sparked my enthusiasm for biking
So all of a sudden I'm looking for sessions on the bike rather than the kite. I flag the marginal kite sessions in favour or some biking. I still choose the kick arse kiting sessions when the wind is on... this have awesome biking sessions when it isn't.
Overall my fun factor per week has increased because I'm not hunting every single session. I'm picking the sweet sessions for either sport. The good thing for me is that when its windy as hell conditions are usually crappy for biking and when the weather is mild and good for biking its crappy for kiting.
So the morel of the story.
Don't pigeonhole yourself into just kiting. Find/have a complementary sport that gives you similar fun levels. Ultimately I think you will enjoy kiting more by doing less of it!!!
I enjoy a game of golf the same if it's windy the golf becomes harder and more frustrating so ill head for the beach Maybe the golf is not as exiting as kiting or even biking but to be out on the course and enjoy the piece and quiet except for the odd roo or kookaburra laughing at you is bliss What do you do when not kiting ?
Yeh, 15 to 35 plus, I'm kiting, and 0 to 15 I'm biking, Kidz, gym, kayak, and generally having just as much fun, the light stuff never really did excite me.

It would be a kite, bike and board store! with custom board factory out back.
As my avatar suggests, riding my ducati at the track or taking the harley for a cruise, and of course surfing. I only kite in summer, then pack it away for the rest of the year....
Been playing rugby in the winter for 20 years. Getting a bit old now for all the training and bumps and crashes. What the hell am I ment to do now??? Damn winter, damn. I hear there's a new thing called beer...

I discovered and now have an addiction to mtb about a year ago. I love that I am not at the weather gods mercy anymore. wet/dry/ morning/evenening/hot/cold you can get your mtb fix anytime you want 365 days a year. I still love kiting and always will, but I think I used to focus ONLY on kiting at the expense of other pursuits. Mtb is just one example of a plethora of awesome activity's we can experience.Life is too short to burn all your time on one passion
