Leightons Beach is wide enough and large enough to cater for all. But it can get busy with traffic.
I witnessed 2 kites wash into a group of swimmers just north of the dog beach sign.
The fast action of kiters on the beach in retrieval and apologies saved any further drama... but.
Probably better to head way south for a launch than risk washing into this area if your hitting the ocean for the first time.
I've come from an area where kites are banned with huge fines if any kite gear is seen on the parks grass, would be really bad to lose this beautiful beach.

Yeah I was one of those...

Kite lines wouldn't untangle on relaunch so I had to pull the safety and self rescue. Glad I got to practice that particular skill...

Apologies for any inconvenience and cheers to all the lads who searched for my board and offered a tow.

So, no flying kites any more?
