The ozone valves are quite suscetible to bleeding air if there is even one grain of sand under the black o-ring. It can be a pain in the arse, why do you want to convert?
The lack of complaints about that issue on here says your claim is simply not true. I have no problem with the valve, not do any of the dozens of people up my way that ride ozone kites. Several brands have actually switched to this valve as it just works and is super reliable.
You have to keep the rubber washer reasonably clean, but a few grains of sand will not be an issue, but a lot of sand will. You must refit the rubber washer the right way up, the side that is flat faces in to the base of the valve cap.
.
I'm actually with Chris here. I thought it was accepted that there was an issue when sand gets in them (even just a little sand) or if it's not done up tight and everyone stopped discussing it as that is just the way it is.
I've had Ozone forever and am happy but I am also super careful setting up to ensure it is sealed properly and I rarely have an issue. I however do occasionally experience a slow leak, but not often, maybe 3 times a year and always the valve just needs tightening or cleaning.
As said, I am super careful/aware of this so don't have many issues but someone not so careful or aware of this must have a more frequent issue.
IMO, if you're careful, it's a good system, if you're not careful, it might be trouble.
ps. I suppose anyone who has read this is now aware so there is no problem!!
