I am already thinking (halfway through my first season) about how much it will suck when summer is over and kiting is consigned to weekends and sickies.

Anyone got any ideas for flatwater kiting holiday destinations for around June/July? Overseas or domestic... single female traveller friendly

Come to Perth. Wont be much wind but we can spend the time talking kiteboarding and I`ll show you the local kite spots so you can come back in the summer..

Kitesurfing capital of Europe, windiest place in Europe (didn't fricking blow when I was there, but it was shoulder season) - friendly people, awesome food etc etc.

Stay at Dos Mares on the beach and you can walk out in the morning and Kite.

Can't rate it high enough, must go back this year if funds allow it.

You could try Fiji: Check out http://www.safarilodge.com.fj/SKMAINPAGE.HTM Haven't been myself but heard good reports. Warren who runs the place used to be part of the Palm Beach surf/windsurf/kitesurf crew. The Fijian boat operators are trained in kite handling (including launching/landing from the boat), so you can go where ever you want and then get picked up when you're too knackered to tack up wind. Apparently wind is best in May -Aug.

Cocos Islands is apparently awesome in winter.

Otherwise you could always go to a snowkiting camp - apparently there were some awesome ones in Wanaka last year as well as the usual trips to Thredbo etc.

have done both trips and was lucky enough to have excellent conditions and weather for each day I was there, the SE trades were on 24hrs the whole time. FNQ is a little easier to get to if on the East coast. Both spots are a great part of Australia and have awesome hosts.

Overseas:
Greek islands are pretty decent, Kos & Rhodes get almost a daily "Meltemi" breeze coming through in summer and have lots of alternatives if the wind doesn't come up.

Goto Hurgharda in Egypt. Soma bay looks the go.
I did a Gecko's tour around Egypt about that time of year. It's hot but if your on the water its awesome! I loved Hurgharda... bit of a party town also. Had fun at Ministry of Sound there :)

Plus getting there that time of the year is super cheap (i used Singapore) and had 3 seats to myself both ways. Oh the sleep was so good :P

i'm from france but living near Coolangatta this year, and be careful with kiting holidays overseas, I mean in Europe. It's not it's bad, because there are some great spots there, but it's globally very crowdy, so much people kiting compare to australia. like tarifa, lot of kites and funboards there (hundreds of people). i have personly more fun in australia where we are few on the spots (well maybe near big cities it's not true) !
but still some great places in europe : portugal is really good (surf and kite), people friendly, but cold water even in summer. grece is a must too, but better to have a boat to avoid crowdy spots. marocco is pretty good, but more difficulties to access to the spots (middle of the desert etc) like dakla.
and more I guess !
