I am a South African and in Australia until the 22nd of January 2009. I work in Sydney and plan to do a week or two trip up to Western Australia for kiteboarding in December. I have all my gear with me. Where is a good spot (town, city) to stay? Hostels in Perth seems like a good option. I will be dependant on public transport to get to the kitesurfing beaches. All I want to do is kite. All day!

Check out the waksa website to get yourself in tune with WA locations.

Some of the good locations have hostel or short term accomodation within walking distance so you wont need to rely on the bus service.

Sleep in a bit, slow breakfast, read the newspaper, send off an email or two then wander down...seabreeze should just about be in by then.

Do some research and you will be rewarded in heaven.

Hey perth kiters, good time to ask, im from Gold Coast and heading that way late november. I kite on an 11m and im 85kgs, will this suit the wind down there?

I also read this, not sure how to take it?

If you are looking for very big waves and strong winds then along the Margaret River strip is good but I have one word you need to remember - unforgiving meaning you get it right or horribly wrong.

I'm 85 too and I had a 12m for long time and it was good enough for 80% of the kite surfing days.

Leighton beach is very close to North Fremantle train station and it is one station away from Fremantle.
I would stay in Freo as it is wonderful and it is 5 mins away from Leighton
