I notice the guy wearing a yellow buoyancy vest would'nt his be a bit dangerous if you got munched ?

nice vid!.
I'm no expert on big wave surfing but I reckon their boards look too small for those conditions.

One of those guys is Jessie Richman. He was here in Perth during Feb 2013 and will probably be back as part of MaiTai this February. He was the guy who jumped right over the sand pit at Safety Bay. I have it on video ... looked like 100m jump. He's still a young dude so this definitely isn't 90's.

Also not an expert, however, tow-in boards are usually much smaller than paddle-in boards. No need for board length or volume to get you on the wave as you have a ski for that.

Yeah that was awesome! Most of the faces were crap though. I did see some smooth faces.

true, but those guys put lead weights in their boards so they don't bounce around so much on the wave face
