Amazing stuff.

I remember Robby Naish saying in one video, that it can be a 15 knot day, but once you get on that wave, and add the speed the wave is travelling at, plus the compression of the wind up the wave face, the actual wind the rider gets can increase to 35+ knots...

that was pretty lame actually........

the only bloke (Kai) who made it look any good ......ditched the kite and surfed it. Most of the rest just looked like muppets flatlining on the edge of control.

Definetely too much offshore. I wonder does it get too bumpy when the winds are good for a kite. (side or onshore)?? Still a long way to go in big wave kitesurfing anyway.

Way too offshore, made the kiting look average. Still need the kahoons to do it though, which is more than most have.

The day the wind is more cross shore will be pretty good vids made that day. Hopefully there will be a few Aussie chargers out there that day.

I heard than an Aussie bloke became the first guy to paddle surf it last week.

Saw the footage (there were about 15 jetski's in his way creating wake and chop for him to get through). Must be a zoo....always thought Hawaii would be great but I think I would rather go somewhere with half the waves and no people rather than the spot with the waves and ALL the people.

I have to agree
At least the wind wankers bust big airs when they surf it

On placement in the critical zone of the wave I think we have to give Polakow et al credit on their riding of this mammoth wave. Different day, different breeze ?? Who' s got the guts to fade into that pit?

Of all the footage you have seen of people riding Jaws (surf, pole, kite) when has anyone NOT looked like they were on the edge of control?

That's kind of the point isn't it?

Kai was clearly in control once he ditched his kite........ hence the bottom turn.
For further evidence of control check out how the poleys do it..... R.E.S.P.E.C.T

Tough crowd. Wasnt the best display of kiting granted, but an excellent display of charging for sure....Back to your flatwater harry, you will be safe there...

Yaaawwwnn.

Wrong gear, wrong wind. Wrong.

I'm not sayin it doesn't take a BIG pair to ride those waves but it's kinda like when you see dudes rippin in a half pipe.. on rollerblades..

No matter how high or difficult the trick, you just want the dude on that equipment to push off so that a skatey can show how it should be done.

Just sayin..

Only interesting bit for me was the dude that bailed the kite. Blood got going for that brief bit. The rest (despite trying) were in a differant suburb to where a dude with no kite would/should be riding.

Watching folks tow around on a big shoulder must do it for some tho.

Now where are my blades?

Yep, I agree with Funky and others, it doesn't do a lot for me.

Big waves and kites don't go together that well at the best of times but if it is that offshore you might as well get towed in.
There is no way anyone was going to get a good bottom turn in with a kite holding them up, they were battling to even get down the face.

Hats off to them for having a crack though.

It's capital "A" at the start of a new sentence. And a capital "N" at the biggining of your last sentence. Oh, and as for the clip, where's the water???

Ps- The word "gay" means homosexual- "a person who is sexually attracted to members of the same sex". Not quite sure how riding a sailboard equates to that? But anyhow, the clip, whilst intersting and skill full, was pointless in your debate. She's all apple to oranges...

Sorry Mark, we don't want him in our crowd, he has been here less than a day and about the only thing he has posted are pathetic gay comments about windsurfers and banging on about cutting kite lines. Maybe he is on Seabreeze because he likes trolling, err oops, I meant fishing?

You have to compare apples to apples. Jason Polakov is and has been one of the best for a long time, you can't compare that to a bunch of avarage punters having a go on Jaws. It's world's apart. But kiting waves still has still has a bit to go to get to the level of JP's poledancing.

I think I would rather listen to the judgement of Robbie than all the armchair critics here

I liken this to my efforts at snowboarding double diamond black runs - OK, I'm not going to look pretty getting down the slope compared to the likes of some pros who ride it every second day but I'll be pretty stoked myself if I can get down without turning into a human snowball and managing to handle the speed...
