Are kite surfboard deck screws standardised? What metric are they? I have a cabrinha spade I need screws for (as might be obvious in my other recent post), what ones fit?

Are they standardized? Dunno. I bet they're Imperial though

you'll probably find, if not screwed in before, that most bolts will fit as the inserts are plastic and will mold to shape of screw. They have to be strong marine grade steel

I might have a few spare but also try SHQ I think sell them for $5 each

Sometimes yes, sometimes no

I've always used 12 gauge stainless steel self-tapper/wood screws. You can buy them anywhere.

I check the depth of the hole in the inserts, add a bit for the fitting on the end of the strap, screw them in.

After seeing "proper" strap screws I might file the point off a little to reduce any chance of the screws poking through the insert.

I've always used Phillips head screws and either a ratchet or impact driver to put the screws in. They allow the screws to be screwed tight but slowly with more control and no slipping.

A couple of years ago I switched to Torx screws with the security pin for straps and foils. The socket is twice as deep as hex and plain Torx and the security pin locks the driver into place. I've had zero wear or damage on screws since.

National course,national fine,metric,imperial are some of the threads only. these days nere is no such thing as standard with china making up some new threads also
we have a industrial supplies company near us so may be easier to take board down there if you have something similar to "blackwoods" to match size and thread type.

Once you pick the type of screw you use, either the ones available from hardware/chandlers or the actual foot strap type as pictured, never change.
They have a different thread pitch, and once the screw cuts its thread in the plastic insert stick with that type screw, otherwise you run the risk of stripping the insert.

If the insert is SS or brass, probably M6
