Got a pamphlet from Dept of transport last night in the mail.

In it there was:
1. Info about someone doing a survey on kiting injuries at UWA (I think I may have seen this on Seabreeze already);
2. A link for regn in respect of tow in surfing www.transport.wa.gov.au/imarine/19242.asp

Be careful how you respond to the survey, as this info could possibly be used later by councils who are keen on banning kitesurfing. Perhaps WAKSA could put together some guidelines for kiters wishing to respond regarding their injuries. Maybe Im just paranoid!

Tell them you have NEVER been injured in the ocean kitesurfing, and that the only serious injury you received in the ocean was while surfing when you got hit by a standup paddleboarder.

First time poster, Long time watcher!!

Very intrigued at the possibilities of this survey,
I have been kiting for several years and I have only been Injured once touch wood and the like.
The injury was a fishing hook to the thigh (barbed) when i was coming back to shore.
Some idiot who had failed to supervise his young son approx age 5-6 whilst he was learning to cast caught me a treat and very much by surprise.
Dad was so proud at his sons "Big Catch" he tried to yank the hook straight from my leg. I suggested rather politely that It would be safer to cut the line so that I could land the kite and then remove the hook in a more conventional manner.
It hurt to say the least! I did my best for diplomacy and to protect relations at this very popular kite spot and suggested that his child develop his casting skills before being left unsupervised and left with a rather bloody leg.

Any way I was thinking I like the sound of Dutchy1985 post.
Maybe there should be a mass filling of survey stating injurys occur at the expense of Frisbie throwers or Hackey Sack Kickers to paint a picture for the Department of transport.
Very much in the style of the Jedi Religion having to be formally recognized as a bona fida religion in the UK thanks to thousands of like minded windup merchants filling in the National Census.
