I'm a German backpacker and had the idea of making a kite holiday/stopover in two weeks before flying back home. Any recommendations? Asia??
It should be affordable with cheap flights from Cairns and with good freestyle conditions. I'm only interested in flatwater spots.
I really appreciate your help. :)

Awesome location, opened in July, season May to October, kite from sunrise to sunset, better than Maui

Dig the knife in..

I think they need to change the name to Kiteboarding Indonesia. Kitesurfing Indo is confusing.

Anyone been to the cocos islands?

tropical island, consistent 15 to 25knt trade winds June through August, surf and flatwater spots.

Looks good on paper. Airfares from Perth are 1000 and not sure what accomodation costs once your there.

The water there looks super shallow, is there any deeper flat water? you wouldn't want to go head first into the sand

Been invited on a boat exploring the south atoll of the Maldives June 2020. Wind seems fickle, waves guaranteed.

Local shop runs trips to Cocos regularly, check out Zephyr Tours, friend of mine been 3 times and loved all 3 trips, another friend been twice and said the same.

I know everyone always mentions Kite Surfari up near Cooktown (FNQ), but here's a more recent report as to why this place is fantastic! Straight from the Blowen Bowen crew. Check it out!
