... What am I missing??
All you really need to know is that almost every single person that has spent the time to learn to foil is totally addicted and doesn't really want to ride anything else. We are talking about national level freestyle competitors, old school boosters, surf and directional riders. You name it. They all want to foil rather than ride their old boards.
The only caveat is that the odd times I have not been able to foil I find it to be loads more fun to flip around on a TT, or mess about on a surfboard, than it used to be. The old stuff seems a little more fresh. It's also kind of nice to know I can still do all that stuff. In pure terms it's foil 1 and surf 2, especially if it's good proper surf.
The other thing to know is that foiling is not kiteboarding with a different board. It is foiling. Apart from using the kite as the power source it is an entirely different sport. At no time could you shut your eyes and think you're just out riding on a kite board.
