Not sure how many others suffer from this, but for the last few days all I can think about at work is my next session.
Cant focus on work, just keep F5 spamming Seabreeze for any glimpse interesting threads or videos.

I think this might be classed as some sort of disability. I need to get out and kite more.

Perhaps I should start a support group for other sufferers.

Yep. We all suffer the same "disease"... It's called KOD, Kite Obsession Disorder.

The only cure is to leave everything, wife,,kids, house, jobs, and just kite up and down the coast. Others have done it, and they have smiled ever since.

It's possible to get temporary relief of symptoms by getting a cool new girlfriend....

Though be prepared for the wind obsession to sneak back in.... In my humble opinion, if you try this approach, start your training early and teach her what DOW means.. Depends On Wind...

Any social arrangements are all of course DOW...

Good luck! :-)

My missus is fine with my obsession, so trading her in would not solve my problem, she even asks how the winds are for the upcoming weekends.
I have no kids, just two dogs, so time commitments with them is easy to work around.

My level of affliction appears to be on the low side compared to others here, my deepest sympathy indeed.

My job however could use a shake up, perhaps this is where I need to focus.

Thank you KOD group for your valuable input in fighting this debilitating disease.

Be prepared to sell your country home (ie more than 10k's from the beach/lake/bay) to move closer to your favourite wind location.

Also consider a jeep, hyundai iload or land cruiser (something that allows you drag the necessary accoutrement with you everywhere)

its infectious. all my girls that work for me can tell me what the wind is blowing (these girls are hairdressers), so they know not to book any clients in for the afternoon!

I have made this clear and make up for it on days when the wind is poor. important that everything becomes DOW, including family (yours and hers).

... and not only do we get "Kite brain", but we get bouts of kite fever where you are rushing to get out so quickly, you forget little things like ice for the beer, the spare towel for the car seat,,,, nah just joking, never use a towel, just jump in car still wet! In fact I think kite fever sets in first, which causes kite brain which causes kite fever!!!!

^^^^ though she did have some additons to the clause...

I agree to all terms and conditions set out by The Wind Clause for kiter -

and will add

onto this Clause

.... that her photography gear she will have in her hands at all times will not be thrown into sand to assist unless fully drowning...she will have to put in car and lock car before rescuing said kiter....if a rescue indeed takes place neither the rescued kiter nor rescuer will be cooking dinner that night.

Kiter Will Love She who holds her expensive camera (that she cherishes) to take photos of him and sit by the ocean with their beach cat....

….And if said She isn't working on an afternoon Kiter comes home from a huge wind goddesses power trip then She will massage him into a deep slumber and curl up behind him.

spare towel for the car seat - done that
harness - done that
pump - done that
bar and lines - done that
wetsuit - done that (winter!!!!)

I now run through a check list that has me visualizing getting dressed, putting on my harness, vest, laying out my lines, pumping my kite etc etc

It can't long before I get booked on my way to important downwinder meeting for ...........

Skid... that Wind Clause is epic!!! What a fantastic resource for the kiteboarding fraternity.

I love how selfless us kiters are!

I have printed one out and will be getting my girlfriend to sign it tonight.

Nothing in there is too unreasonable!

Sent it to my wife, her reply:

I will let wifey ride bikes whenever the conditions are good (this includes rain, snow, hot/cold weather).

The answer to the problem is to buy more kites and more boards so you have a wider wind range of when you can kite........

The even more obsessed also don't limit themselves to the water,,,,,,,,, Kite landboards, buggies, longboard skating with a kite... doom wheels.. dirt surfers..

Its all kiting.....

Foils boards, foil kites... storm kites, light wind doors ect, ect....

Also entertain yourself with an exciting sport when its not windy aswell. I do mountain biking and longboard skating........ Its not the same buzz, but it takes the sting out until the conditions are right for any of the above.....

pS job selection is also key.
