Yesterday I got spanked by the conditions. It was 30-40 knots I was on the 6m, 5m washing machine swell with stupid sweep down the beach. All I could do was mow backwards and forwards hoping not to get my ass whipped. It was survival kiting!

Then I did a punt. Lost the board into the malestrom, couldn't even stay upwind body dragging due to the down wind sweep, got washing into the river mouth that was flooding due to torrential rain. I had to pull the safety on the kite, watch it get dragged over the rock wall in the surf while I got washed in and out of the river mouth with each swell surge. Finally extracted the kite from the rocks and clambered to safety.

Meanwhile, A young gun was rooosting on a 9m pulling 15-20m airs owning the conditions!

I remember those days of zen and boosting to the moon 30+. I need to pull back some of that skill. I miss it!
